Incompetent staff
Jan 2020 • Couples
Went to Newtownards cinema to watch Little Women tonight. Put up with 3 teenage girls seated behind laughing and talking and running in and out of the cinema literally every 5 minutes for an hour and a half before I eventually asked them to sit down. Nothing changed so I went to complain to the manager. At the end of the film I went to explain to her that I wouldn’t have said anything had it just been a few times but that it was 1, 2 or all 3 of them coming or going noisily every 5 minutes and ruining the film for all other customers. Despite the fact that neither she nor her staff were around to do their jobs properly she questioned my version of events saying they were children!! I was disgusted - people who should, don’t deal with bad behaviour so kids (even those who are old enough to know better) just do what they want. I have a four year old grandson who is so well behaved in the cinema he’d put these 3 girls to shame! Don’t use this cinema if you want to watch the film - go to Dundonald or Bangor.

Avoid at all costs
Nov 2019 • Solo
Would rate zero if I could.
Have worked here and seen the mess that it is behind the scenes.
Popcorn isn't stored right and is reheated several times over.
Prices are extortionate.
No intentions of fixing any of the current "works"
Disgraceful and disgusting treatment of people with disabilities.

Please avoid this place.

Havnt been here in a while always liked the old charm of the place. Has been completely refitted it does look good, I do miss the old fashioned look of it a little tho. Clean and tidy throughout Staff friendly and welcoming 5y/o daughter enjoyed it. Just don't park too close seagulls trying to get to bins at Kfc left alot of mess on car!!!

What’s happened?

We love to visit our local Cinema, so imagine our disappointment the last couple of occasions when it’s been freezing cold. Seems to be less folk using this cinema now. There’s no atmosphere.

Cinema Freezing, Badly managed on the day and absolutely no point in pre-booking your tickets.
Oct 2018 • Couples
Have been here before and cinema was cold then also.
However always live in hope.
Arrived having pre-booked seating and tickets, not much point as there was only one option of standing in a queue of about 20 people to get into the cinema booked.
People who were buying tickets were being told to sit where ever they wanted as the system was not working.
Customers in the queue wishing to pay for tickets with a card had to leave, and were told there was no card facility for them to get tickets.
Then the film had already started and the lights were still up.
The cinema was absolutley freezing.
All in all a miserable experience, and not a very pleasant afternoon experience.

No go Andre Reiu
Jul 2018 • Friends
We met up with friends at 2.45pm to see Andre Reiu in concert at the cinema. There was just a note on the window stating that the show was cancelled. I went in and a guy said they were not happy with the sound so cancelled today. Had it of been put on the event we would of seen it and could of git to another cinema in time. Very bad communication from this Ards cinema

Relaxing night out
Mar 2018 • Couples
Movieland, Newtownards, is a local cinema situated at Ards shopping centre. It has recently been taken over by the IMC cinema group. There is plenty of parking and a number of fast food outlets at the shopping centre close to the cinema. It has a number of screens showing the latest movies. As it is an out of town location it is usually not busy and there are normally no queues to get in. The ticket prices are reasonable and it is possible to get an over 60's reduction. I visited at the weekend to see an evening show. Currently you pay for cinema tickets at the concession desk and it is a little slow as they are serving refreshments and issuing cinema tickets. In the theatre I found the seats to be comfortable and the temperature to be just right. I thought the advertisements at the beginning of the show to be long.
An unusual feature of the cinema is the fully working Compton theatre organ that is positioned on a ledge above the foyer.
