Stopped off here on a sunny November morning. The gardens are just a marvel, so much to see and enjoy. The house was decorated for Christmas, which was a fun event. But the café was very poor, paper cups holding machine coffee. Basically the cafe is a canteen, not to the standard expected of NT. Have never experienced this at... More

Went recently early as possible to Stourhead gardens, (house not open this time of year), Very damp day lots of mist but brightened up by lunch time. Splendid time walking all around outside took just over 1 hour. as did not stop long at any point. Expensive to visit as one off for adult, but as we are N.T. members... More

I have been visiting Stourhead since the 1970s, but not for the last 15 years as I moved away. I was really looking forward to seeing this beautiful place again. I know it was weekend, but I couldn't believe the size of the crowds or the very long walk from the car park. The real horror was the large Visitors... More

Spent a few hours here recently with friends, having visited before when I was a child. It's gorgeous and well worth a visit, the grounds are gorgeous to walk around and in the summer it would be great with a picnic. The food outlets are a little overpriced too, but putting that to one side I'd definitely come back just... More

I'm sorry I can't seem to review the cafe separately. House and gardens are stunning and we will be back on a regular basis to see the changes through the seasons. However we will be bringing a flask and a picnic as the cafe is a shocker!! Looks great but massively over priced with charmless staff. Not the first time... More

This is 2 separate reviews as there is no option to review the cafe separately. the house and gardens are fantastic and 5 stars all the way, a nice house with helpful guides and lots of different things to explore, we will be back in the spring to enjoy the gardens. The cafe however is a straight 1 star, one... More

These are rather trying times but a few hours spent at Stourhead renew my faith in life and the world. We visited in late November and the autumn colours around the lakes were just sublime - fantastic and they really raise ones spirits. It was our first visit and we were struck by that clever design which takes you around... More

I have visited these gardens in the snow, when the rhododendrons are in blossom, in high summer and for the autumn colours - it never ceases to impress. Go early or late to avoid the crowds.

Why go to Stourhead? Go because it it is the most beautiful place for getting back to nature, for slowing your pace down and relaxing with family, friends, your partner, well whoever you love! Go because you will never forget your time there. Go on Autumn because the colours are beautiful. Go in summer because sitting under a collossal tree... More

Stourhead is a real feast for the eyes and senses, no matter what season you visit. The upper area contains the car park, a good NT restaurant and shop, both with extensive selections. The walk down to the gardens teases you with what is to come....you go through a courtyard area first with an art gallery, shop, light refreshments and... More
