Although we went in the middle of the Covid pandemic with all the restrictions in place we still managed to have a great day out. For the first time we braved the animal enclosures in our car which was an amazing experience (even if my youngest was freaked out by the camels!) The grounds are stunning and there was plenty for the kids to do even with all the extra coronavirus measures in place. The new koala enclosure is awesome and we could have spent most of the day just watching the animals chilling out on their trees. It's isn't a cheap day out an I would recommend taking a picnic and thermos as it's a bit pricey to get in and to feed five if us. We will ore than likely return as we all had a brilliant time but maybe wait for a discount voucher.

Visited the light show at Longleat in December 2020, this was a 4 hour round trip for approximately a 30 minute trail with a lot of queuing on the way round. The tickets were also the same price as the previous year with no comparison at all. This is a lot of money to us and it feels wasted. Left feeling very underwhelmed, contacted the customer service team to be told 'sorry this was not to your taste'. Very insulting.

If you thought or think Land of Lights is the Annual Longleat light Festival think again, it isn't. It's totally different, smaller in scale but big on sparkle, colour and atmospherics. I had no idea what to expect when I visited but I wasn't disappointed. Shimmering lights, lasers, sound effects and film combined to create a show which takes you through parts of this country's history and the uniqueness of Longleat, given that it doubles as a safari park as well as a beautiful stately home. You wouldn't find a lights show depicting the things shown in this one in many,if any other places. I particularly loved the re-creation of an Autumn forest with striking red, orange and green lights, used to great effect to look like twigs and branches and the prominence given in various forms to the animals you'd come across in the park there . As we ambled round we saw just about every colour of the rainbow and every variety of shimmer. Just one word of caution, the luxury Belgian hot chocolate is a tad expensive at £4 per serving, but it is akin to drinking unadulterated velvet luxury in a paper cup. This was a lovely Christmas present to my sister Jan and I from my niece Charlotte, who accompanied us with her two children, and it's not something I would have thought of doing myself. I would also take into consideration that, due to lockdowns, the organisers probably didn't have a lot of time to put it all together and that they put on a show is itself remarkable. I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Today we did a winter bronze vip safari and even though we have done one before a long time ago we had the most amazing time. Our guide Mike was amazing and we went round the animals in the wrong order to get the best experience. We were the first ones in to the big cats and it was incredible. We then spent the rest of the day looking around before staying to walk around the lights after dark. I do agree that this year they were not as spectacular as last year but they were still very enjoyable and I do appreciate that if they must restrict numbers for safety then they don't have the money to spend. Overall for the money we paid we more than got our money's worth for the whole day and I would highly recommend the vip safari.

Already had our pass tickets pre booked so being not too far away would give the lights a go even after seeing all the bad reviews. Sadly I would have to agree with the reviews. What a poor show this time Longleat ! Lucky crowds were not too bad we must have times it right as it flowed well. But what a boring lack lust trail. Even a christmas theme would have been nice. Best bit was the hearts with the smoke. 2020 may have been a bad year but this visit topped it off. Feel sorry for those that paid full price for this.
