Fabulous trip from Darley Dale to Matlock and back again twice with an amazing tasty, varied and generous afternoon tea. Beautiful carriage which was lovely and warm on a cold November day. The whole party had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thank you to the lovely friendly and efficient volunteer waitresses. Would do it again! Thank you for inviting us Ollie.

Travelled on train hauled by 2 diesel locos, one at the front and one at the back. Plenty of carriages, perhaps 10 to 12, but the locos were just ticking over. Plenty of seats despite it being October 2016 half term. They also let children on for free if accompanied by fare paying adults, and the ticket lasted all day... More

If you are thinking where to go at the weekends , come to peak rail. During the summer they have a 1940s weekend. Christmas time book your seats for yourself & your children, Santa will make a grand entrance, he will give your children a nice present. Plus for Adults mince pie & a glass of sherry.

We took a trip on Peak Rail on Saturday. The trip is actually quite short so did not take a lot of time. At the sedate pace you do get a chance to view the countryside. We took the opportunity to visit Matlock as part of our trip. On our return journey we stopped at Darley Dale Station for a... More

Firstly, I must praise the volunteers for their enthusiasm and hard work in presenting and running a lovely train hauled by top and tail powerful diesels. The return trip from Matlock to Rowsley took just under an hour. Rowsley South has a free car park and most of this railway's added attractions. Our group has travelled on many heritage railways... For those of us who were avid train spotters (no need to own up publicly) this is a very nice little railway with its own steam engines and diesels. Unfortunately the steam engine is currently out of action due to needing a new injector, according to a member of staff? The train starts at Matlock, and travels for 4 miles... More

Enjoyable and very reasonably priced. The staff, although volunteers, were all very helpful and informative.

We were disappointed when told that the steam engine was being repaired as this would make the journey into something special. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and quite obviously have a passion for running a heritage railway. We will come back but only when the steam loco is back in action
