    doggy day out
went on the 1940 weekend and what a great day out for me the lady and our little bundle of fluff. Road the trams 🚉 did the woodland walk the pub and the stands . Had a great day .only down was we couldn't get a meal at the tea rooms due to lack of outside seating as they do not allow dogs inside so had to make do with 🐕 a burger 🍔. hey ho the diet
Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to our 1940s event. I'm sorry about not being able to get food in our Tearooms, but they do get very busy on event days. We do have snacks in the Red Lion pub where dogs are permitted. We hope you return soon.

Great day out despite the weather !
Visited Critch while on holiday with daughter and her toddler and baby. It was the only wet day of our break, we enjoyed time in the tram sheds, and the opportunity to get on a tram in there. The children were too young to enjoy the interactive boards in the tram shed, but these looked great for older children. The dressing up area was an unexpected bonus photo opportunity. It was lovely to have a tram ride, I think we all learned something . If the weather had been better we would have been able to make use of the highlights along the route. We felt it was value for money as the tickets are reusable within the 12mth period.
Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you all enjoyed your visit and hope you will return again this season using your 12 month free return ticket. You can use it for all other events this season and don't need to pre-book.

    Well worth a visit
I wasn't expecting a lot from this experience but was pleasantly surprised. We visited on a rather wet March day so we did not utilise all of the features or walks available. The Tram rides are really good, and we recommend riding on as many as are running each day as they all have their own unique features. The Museum and sheds were very enjoyable, and we didn't realise how long we had spent watching the maintenance crews from the balcony above. We enjoyed walking round the old Trams and reading about their use and history. We stopped for a quick coffee at Ritas cafe, Theres plenty of options for everyone, but it did have one of my bug bears in so much as I hate anywhere that smells of a deep fat fryer. We encountered one member of staff who wasn't particularly helpful and bordered on the sarcastic but everyone else was really nice and couldn't be more helpful when we asked questions. The really brilliant part about the Tramway Village is that it is all disabled accessible - even the Trams! They have trams that can accommodate wheelchairs and the staff will aim to assist when you need. Diversity is key here for staff and visitors and no one is left behind.
Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you back. We do ask visitors to book our Access Tram one week ahead of their visit so that we can secure the appropriate tram crew.

    Nice sunny day
Was a very quiet sunny day which made it all the more enjoyable. The trans were fun even though the staff on one team was very grumpy. Very dog friendly but despite this there were no bowls of water anywhere for our dog to drink despite the heat.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you experience a grumpy team (it is most unusual). We do have bowls of water for dogs outside the Red Lion pub. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and look forward to welcoming you back.

    Step back in time
We had a lovely day out on the tramway. The talk was very good, the guide was very knowledgeable as to the back story and where everything came from. Everything was very reasonably priced. Good facilities and a good range of thing’s available in the cafe etc. My only bug bear was that the cafe isn’t dog friendly which was disappointing as it was a cold and rainy day. Apart from that it was a great day out.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your visit. We do permit dogs in the Red Lion pub, which also serves snacks and beverages, which could be an option next time you visit.

    Well worth a visit
With my husband in a wheelchair, we had to follow a specific route and they had certainly done their best to cover uneven ground and cobbles with a suitable tarmac path. The staff helping to run the tram trips couldn’t have been more helpful in getting my husband on and off safely and looking after his chair during our trip. However, the lunch experience wasn’t so enjoyable. The tea room cafe was very crowded and if it hadn’t been for another visitor helping me, I would never have been able to push my husband up the very steep ramp. The poor staff couldn’t have worked any harder to get everyone served but I think Crich need a rethink on refreshment provision, certainly with wheelchair users in mind. However, we did all enjoy our day and there was lots for my grandsons to see and do. Grandpa also enjoyed that with the aid of a lift, he could get into the exhibitions.
Thank you for your review. We do appreciate the ramp to the tearoom is a little steep and are planning to have a new cafe built, which will incorporate a lift, rather than a ramp.

    Return visit
Making the most of the fact that once you have been, you can return free of charge for the rest of the year, we decided to have a school holiday day out. The tram rides are of course a major plus point. On this visit we also visit the soft play area which was nice but looking a bit tired. We had a wonder around the museum which houses some beautiful old trams and my daughter enjoyed dressing up in uniform. We then did the woodland walk for the first time, this is great to do with kids, we loved all the wooden carvings though some are looking worse for wear - the big Mr potato heads are a great idea. We finished up in the play area at the end of the walk which looks pretty new and is a great asset, a lovely play area. Overall, a great family day out, it is just looking tired in places and is expensive unless you use the return visit option as we did. Can't help but wonder if they would attract more visitors if they offered a slightly cheaper 1 off ticket option in addition to offering the free return/annual tickets.
Thank you for your review We are delighted that you enjoyed the visit and managed to take the woodland walk and sculpture tail this time. We have several events planned for the rest of the school holidays, so we hope you will return.

    Interesting day out
There are so many things to do and see. Ride the trams as frequently as you want at no extra cost. The pub gets extremely busy but does a roaring trade. The cobs are delicious. The old fashioned sweet shop was busy, as was the gift shop. This occasion I didn't explore the discovery walk to see the constructions from railway memorabilia of the early 20th century. Having arrived at around 10.45 there was a long queue, but it was worth the wait. The ticket is signed by all members of a group,or individual and this allows you to visit again for free. 1d (old penny) is handed to each person to hand to the conductor of the tram. A ticket is received in return and this is shown to allow another ride. I saw 1 family group who had 4 different colour tickets, which indicated that they had travelled on 4 different trams
Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and hope you will return.

    Great day out
Good day out though we feel it's probably on the expensive side (has a free return but I feel you are paying for that in the ticket cost - especially if it's a 'one-off' trip). I'd also say the ticket office weren't particularly helpful - we've never been before so just handing us the leaflet and some coins without any welcome or explanation left us a little confused. That aside, the tram rides were enjoyed and we were pleasantly surprised as to how many hours we spent there!
Thank you for your review. We are pleased you had a good day, but are sorry you didn't receive a full explanation of the use of your coins on arrival. This is most unusual, but we hope you were given an explanation by our tram crew. We hope you will use your ticket to return.

A little disappointing, and not suitable for the mobility impaired.
I first visited Crich in the 1970s and again in 1989. During that period, massive progress had been made in building a.replica village street in the former quarry site, the buildings were mostly dismantled from their original locations and rebuilt at Crich. In 2023, 34 years on, I was a little disappointed to find that little had changed apart from the running line having been extended. Extra trams had been acquired, but while this would please tram enthusiasts, it was of no particular interest to the casual tourists on whom the survival of this attraction must surely depend. Access for the disabled and mobility impaired was poor to non-existent. The main access from the car park into the site was via a steeply graded ramp. There were three trams running. This was not nearly enough for the number of visitors and lengthy queues were the order of the day. As a result, we weren’t able to travel on the one tram we would have liked to have ridden on. Apart from one tram ride at the start, we walked everywhere. We were unimpressed by the shops. The cafe was unexceptional. We had a very ordinary coffee with sickly sweet cakes that were not only extremely unhealthy but practically inedible. We did not enjoy our visit and are unlikely ever to return.
We are sorry that you did not enjoy your visit. We have made our heritage site as accessible as possible with a 'smoothway' for wheelchairs and walkers and plenty of seats around, but being such an old site, it is difficult to address every area. We do supply information on accessibility on our website so that you can plan in advance: https://www.tramway.co.uk/plan-your-visit/accessibility. We are sorry that you weren't impressed by the shops and cafe offerings - the cakes have gone down extremely well with the majority of visitors, but tastes do vary.

This place has gone downhill fast. They are about to demolish their period tea rooms and build in its place what looks like a McDonald's Drive Through. The plans are absolutely abysmal and totally contradict the whole purpose of the place. When I and others criticised this decision on their Facebook page and asked them to think again we were blocked. Totally blocked from their social media. Appalling behaviour. Censoring the very people who they rely on to stay open. I will NEVER visit this place again. It's obviously in the worst hands its been in in its long history. God knows what's coming next.

A pretty murky day but we promised our grandson so spent a couple of hours on the M1 in pouring rain to get there!
Arrived and the rain stopped so we had a couple of rides on the trams that were running and enjoyed the tramshed and exhibition areas. We need to return to do the bits that were too wet to do! Enjoyed lunch in the cafe and came home after about three hours. About right for a 4 year old who enjoyed the tram rides and the indoor play area!
Staff friendly and helpful and the whole experience is well worthwhile.
Impressive set up!

Went here back in the 1980's and only returned today! Fascinating place that only let's you have lots of tram rides but is informative regarding as to the background regarding their emergence.

Much to see and learn about trams past, present and future.

Plenty of well presented information on the social background to the early years of trams, their "hey day", decline and growing resurgence.

Good facilities for eating and drinking and buildings rescued from elsewhere add to the ambience of the site

We had a really enjoyable visit, the exhibitions were great and the volunteers really knowledgeable. Helped that our teenagers enjoyed it one being into engineering design enjoyed seeing how the trams evolved. Also dog friendly which was great for our labrador especially the woodland walk. Cafe / pub food ok but a little old fashioned re options but again friendly staff.

Great place to visit. Historic trams to view and ride on. Lots of tram related memorabilia. Cafe is basic but okay. Pub is Victorian on the outside and surprisingly 1980’s decor on the inside. Good gift shop.

Unfortunately, although the tickets are good value being good for a year, with added discounts, Crich TM could use a little wheelchair/mobility scooter advice.
Lots to see and do, with a rather challenging ‘hike’ up to the pretty basic cafe.
If a flat paved path - or tarmac - could be laid, either would facilitate wheelchair/scooter users a much improved experience.
Amazing experience for nostalgia and for younger people.

Thank you for your review. Whilst we did provide a ramp to the cafe, we appreciate it is steep. We are installing a new cafe with lift, which should be complete by the middle of 2024, so we hope you will return.

A very interesting village, especially if you are interested in old trams. It is set in a stunning location and when you ride the different trams, there are stop-off points of interest where you can leave the tram to explore the different areas. There is a period village with a pub, cafe, sweet shop and Derby Assembly Rooms which have been rescued from around the UK and rebuilt in the village. There are inside and outside play areas for the children and an exhibition hall. A great place for a day out.

Visited here for the day on a sunny Sunday in October for the second time (although I don’t remember the 1st as I was about 6!)
There is a huge collection of trams here which have been restored and cared for and 3 are usually in service each day for people to travel on up and down the tracks all day. The entry fee seems a little steep at £22 per person but when you consider this allows you repeat access for 12 months then it’s great value! The staff throughout the day were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable especially those on the trams.
There were several museum style areas with a lot of historical information, photos etc. and old style pub, cafe, sweet shop and ice cream stalls. There is a woodland walk with stunning views and play areas for children but of course, the stars of the show are the trams!

I would give this place 10 stars what a loverly place. Filled with commitment by staff and volunteers to make this active museum accurate to the period and each individual Tram to its own time period. Everyone involved was friendly and some of the best food I’ve ever had on a day out. I’m certain anyone into a bit of nostalgia with love this.
