This cathedral is a must see if you are in the area. It is beautifully cared for and the story told in the tapestry cushions that line the walls is fascinating. The gallery museum showing the historical development of the building and the collection of...More

We visited between Christmas and New Year late in the day. The Christmas tree and subdued lighting created a wonderful atmosphere. The guides were helpful but not pushy. By the end of our visit it felt like we were the only ones in the place.

This is quite some building. You can see it for miles. Set on a high point in the city the grounds are well maintained. There is, as you would expect, quite a good shop in the corner of the building as you go in.

Just take time to wander around this Cathedral which is magnificently built considering its age. In first class condition.

What a place. The architecture and stonework is outstanding. You could spend a couple of hours here no problem. There is no entrance fee but you are asked to make a contribution as the cost to keep this wonderful building going is enormous. You also...More

The medieval choir stalls were the high light for me as well as the stained glass windows. A welcoming feeling.

We were made very welcome and encouraged to spend as much time as we wanted. I would visit the Cathedral again and encourage others to do the same. They have a wide variety of events and a range of religious and non-religious activities worth supporting.

No, there is no compulsory entrance fee. There are donation boxes available at the entrance, donations to light candles. Worthy of a token donation though, beautiful peaceful cathedral. Crypt worth a visit too and the... More
