Wonderful grand Cathedral with helpful staff and lots of information guides around the various spaces within. As we had our dog with us we took turns to go in and explore. Plenty of beautiful architecture inside and out. Pleased to see that it was clearly still an active place of Christian worship and not merely a museum or tourist trap.

I would like to thank all those at Ripon Cathedral who made me so welcome on my visit yesterday. It really is a lovely building with a long and fascinating history and much of interest to see. Particular thanks go to Alison who very knowledgeably guided me around and made the story of Ripon Cathedral come alive.

Very historical- made even better as a wedding was happening. The shop could’ve had some more books in the history of the cathedral - but the cushions lined up against the wall helped to explain the history - sewing galore. The bell towers were magnificent and the bell ringing was fabulous

I truly didn't know what to expect when I was making my way across the carpark in the direction of the cathedral but then, boom, this incredible edifice emerges from nowhere! We arrived on a Sunday, just after mass and so the building was infused with the smell and smog of incense. Plenty to draw the eye, certainly worth our driving to Ripon for.

It is one of the oldest church in England due to survived crypt from 7th century. Cathedral has been built and rebuilt over several centuries and when you sit and look at the arch under the central tower you can see the arch has different pillars on both ends. There is so much to see inside , it's real gem. I absolutely loved Arts and Crafts pulpit and marble font from Tudor times. One of very interesting things is that the Christ sculpture on the main altar is showing young Christ which was reminder on those who lost their lives in the WWI - local war memorial is behind the altar. The Millenium stitched seating cushions which were around the whole Cathedral were amazing - what a great idea it was as they tell the history of Ripon. This incredible work took 4 years and I and my husband absolutely admire those who made them. During our visit there were several volunteers and one lady told us a lot from its history. Inside is a shop where you should pay for the permission to make photos - it's very cheap, we paid £1 per person. They have also nice postcards and other information or souvenirs. There are no toilets inside but about 50 metres from the church are public, and clean toilets. We did park at St Marygate carpark (we paid about £3 for 4 hours) from which is a short passage towards Sainsbury's and Cathedral via small park.

A wonderful Cathedral staffed by warm, friendly people. This was well worth a visit and, had we not had the dog with us, we would have stayed for longer. We have visited many over the years but this was one of our favourites. I won’t do the history here - buy a guidebook because it’s very good- but don’t miss the crypt. If we return to Yorkshire then we will come back for a second look.

Ripon Cathedral is the most important religious building in Ripon, a little town in the center of England. The first church was built in the 7th Century, but it was demolished in some wars. In fact, the current cathedral was built in the 12th Century in a English Gothic style. It was very nice from outside. Really, it seems too low, but it is very curious. When I visited the town, at the beginning of December-2022, it was opened, so I could enter and see the very beautiful inner nave. Here you can see the main altar, some chapels and an organ. My first visit to Ripon in April 2023. The Cathedral is located in the town centre and is a very impressive building. The brickwork and stained glass windows are beautiful. On the day of our visit, a Spring Fair was taking place at the Cathedral. There was a number of food/craft stalls and even some farm animals visiting outside. The Cathedral was a lovely place to visit and is a landmark building in Ripon. There was public toilet facilities next to the Cathedral in the neighbouring park area. Well worth a visit.

A beautiful combination of the old and the new, just as it should be! We were fortunate to be there as the Grammar school were practicing for their Founders Day celebration and the sound of the choirs and organ with it's 32 feet pipes was amazing. The story of Ripon told in tapestry cushions around the Nave is particularly interesting.

An amazing cathedral. We were greeted and made to feel welcome. We paid the very modest charge to get the stickers to allow us to take photos. After exploring by ourselves we then had a tour of the Cathedral led by Godfrey this was really brilliant and we learned so much and realised how much we had missed on our own exploration. We would absolutely like to visit again. Thank you.
