Well worth a visit.

Rather small but very interesting, quite a lot packed in the small space. Good value if you buy the 3 in 1 ticket, including the Magistrate Court and Workhouse/Orphanage.
Near-by car is a bargain price. I would happily pay £4 to park all day.
All three museums in easy walking distance, as is Ripon Cathedral.

My friend and I visited this museum and we were pleasantly surprised. It was small but there is lots of information within the cells and it’s very interesting. We had to book in advance as there is limited numbers of people allowed in the museum at the moment.

Freddie’s jail time
Feb 2020 • Family
A slightly rushed visit as the museums all close at 4pm despite it being half term...nevertheless great value with the three-in-one ticket and lots to see and do. Freddie recommends the police motorbike and prisoner experience. First rate!

A step back in time with a great insight into how the police and the prison worked. Lots of things to see and read. Give yourself 1 to 2 hours to walk around and read everything.

One for a rainy day
Feb 2020 • Solo
Interesting for a short visit , ideally about one hour.Best for a rainy day. Filled with as many police items as could be found, mainly badges, truncheons and uniforms. Nothing of stand out interest. A little pricey all things considered.

Interesting Small Museum

This, like the courthouse museum is included in the three museum ticket (Workhouse Museum) takes about an hour to look around, fairly limited opening hours, interesting, check with them about opening hours especially out of season.

Really interesting

Purchased the 3 ticket and enjoyed all 3 museums immensely. The workhouse is the best and probably best value of the three (based on time spent) however I'm glad we experienced all to get a flavour of crime and punishment in days gone by.

Again we bought a ticket to visit three museums well worth the money. Children and adults will enjoy this visit.the lady on the desk was very informative and have us a list of places to visit.you get the sense of what villian s suffered in the jail.all three museums are in walking distances of each other.tickets are valid for a year.

In May 2016 this was £12 per adult, but this gives you visits to the Police, Prison AND court museums, and is valid for 12 months so if you didn't have time to fit all three in - or you wish to go again - you have a year to revisit at no extra charge.
