As an Irish history buff, I was very impressed with this small museum. It was able through a selection of well displayed artifices cover in a very balanced way a lot that is important in a Irish history and culture! Having the museum sited in the top floor of a really good department store worked surprisingly well! This museum is... More

Located on the top floor of Slevin's Department Store this is a small Museum currently developing it's exhibits and their presentation. While this is being done the current exhibits provide a true flavour of the local area, it's history and personalities and history of Donegal and Ireland on a much broader basis. A couple of names linked with Ballyshannon are... More

This was an incredible highlight for us! A walk through the history of the area created by volunteers & donations. You can feel the sense of pride & community the moment you walk through the door. Glen was the volunteer at the desk. We enjoyed wonderful conversation with Glen throughout our visit. It was like meeting an old friend. There... More

What a brilliant museum. So much to read and learn about local events. All FREE. Run by friendly volunteers who are local people and are a mind of information. I really enjoyed it and could spend hours there. So give yourself plenty of time to spend there. There are drawings for children to do why you visit the exhibition. Featured... More

Located inside Slevins department store this museum is a hidden gem. So many interesting things to see about Ballyshannon and the local area and if you get into conversation with one of the volunteers you will learn so much more. Worth an hour of your time...and it's free (donation box)

Visited here whilst still the Rory Festival. Odd location tucked away in department store, but interesting small museum. Very helpful and knowledgable gentleman gave us lots of info.

I hope that you are able to find this museum located at the foot of the city on the second floor of the department store. There was a older man, who had a wealth of information about the city and surrounding areas. He has lived in Ballyshannon all of his life and it was very obvious how proud he was... More
