The ferry is the only way to get to the island but it is well worth it. I visited it recently as part of a day trip with my walking club. It is like going back is time and it is totally unspoiled. We travelled from Baltimore and it tool about an hour. Best if the weather is good and... More

Recently we travelled to Cape Clear to trace my wife's ancestors. Our trip on the Cailin Oir was outstanding. The crew were incredibly friendly and helpful. One crew member set us up with a cab driver who took us around the island and even introduced us to island resident who knew my wife's family. The cruise on the ferry was... More

Took the ferry from Baltimore on sun 14th August. Stopped off for a few hours in Cape clear and visited the Fastnet interpretive centre which was very informative. Then took the Fastnet tour which was great. The sun shone and it was a great day out. The ferry service was very efficient and safely ran (max passenger numbers not exceeded).... More

Booked ferry on line from Baltimore to Cape Clear, our plan was to stay for two days we reluctantly left 10 days later! In the meantime the beautiful skipper of the ferry Niamh, took my car keys and got our remaining gear from the boot of my car in Baltimore so I did not have to get off the island! NOW... More

I took the ferry from Baltimore to Cape Clear and on to Fastnet which I prebooked online. It was an amazing daytrip, Cape Clear is beautifully isolated and the locals very friendly. There is a fuller review of my day under Cape Clear. I would definitely recommend it.The ferry was clean, spacious and the scenery is stunning. The trip to... More

No problems on the boat trip Baltimore to Cape Clear return but the appearance & general demeanour of the crew is dreadful - they look dirty & unkempt, obviously haven't shaved. As an Irish person I felt ashamed of them. The presentation of both boat & crew does not build confidence in the service. Notices say Lifejackets are stowed under... More

Thank you for your review. This is a difficult vessel to operate as it must handle all kinds of cargo for the island as well as passengers which is far from ideal and hence the crew may not always be spotless. However these are are life long seafarers with qualifications and experience to match. Regarding the life jackets which you... More

Thank you for this review but I must point out that the crew are instructed to request student cards from persons requesting the student rate and there is no problem at all about giving the student discount in these circumstances. Situations such as this can be stressful and difficult for our crew, for the record the student rate is €10... More

I arrived to get the ferry to Cape Clear, with way too many bags and a dog that had never seen the sea before, let alone travel on a ferry. Everyone was very helpful, passengers, locals and staff alike, all lent me a hand with my various bags. After a number of futile attempts to get my very nervous dog... More

We travelled to Cape Clear. The trip was thoroughly enjoyable. Cape Clear and its surroundings are amazing, The coastal waters around the island were the most amazing blue/green colour and totally transparent. The President himself Michael D.
