Beautiful beach

Had a couple of fantastic days at Barleycove this year. Lovely and clean with beautiful views. Lifeguard on duty. The water is marginally warmer in the river than in the sea!

the scenery here is wonderful and loads of walks, unfortunately the time that we visited it was typical Irish weather, with the wind and the rain no from the car you could still appreciate the scenery

Glorious beach but be careful of the incoming tide and strong currents. Access from car park is via a wooden walkway and bridge (about 3-5 min walk). Toilets at car park. Bring picnic as no other facilities (which is the way all good beaches should be). There was a lifeguard there when we were there but that's seasonal and the... More

Without exaggeration the best beach in west cork. White sand, plenty of space, doesn't get fully covered when tide is in. Handy access by a walking bridge from /to the parking. Fantastic for families with kids - there's only sand and water and fresh air- no stupid shops to suck money out of ur pockets continuesly . However there's a... More

Excellent soft sand not packed and easy accessible by a short walk from the car park. Parking a problem in the height of the season. A floating walkway takes you over the strool and is excellent for kids to bath either on the sea front or on the strool with shallow water. Good for surfing take wets suits water a... More

Great spot to spend the afternoon and particularly if there's a swell and some surf. Best avoided on busy days as access starts to get difficult.

Beautiful beach, a walk here is a must if you are in the area. There are lovely sand dunes and golden sands.

Loved this beach. The ocean view is amazing with waves galore. It has a great area for jumping in and is safe almost like a river. We brought food for bbq as not much in area (as we found out last year). Wish we didnt live 5 hours from this stunning part of the isle. Have to mention I found... More

I've been to many beaches in Ireland but this one in Barleycove is one of the nicest. It's remote, but worth the visit. Beautiful.
