The Celtic High Cross is truly impressive, especially after all these centuries. A true testament to the craft work of that time. Designs on the cross depict biblical scenes from the Old and New Testament.

Beautiful cross with intricate carvings from the bible. Amazing how it has survived down through the centuries. Plenty of literature on its origins and what each piece depicts nearby. Definitely worth a visit!

During our visit to Yeats' grave site, we had the opportunity to view this cemetery's High Cross. I was surprised it was in such good condition considering how exposed to the elements it is. It is easy to spot as it is right at the...More

Located at Drumcliffe church... Don't leave without looking at this surviving High Cross circa 11th century. It is located near the round tower built by St. Colmcille.

The cemetery was very symbolic of the times. Large tombstones grace the area with a somber feeling of those that went before us

The High Cross is quite a piece of history. It won't be the focal point of your trip, but since you're there for the Ben Bulben and Yeats's grave, take a few minutes to read its description and see the details in the engravings.

11th century cross with bible story engravings from the old and new testaments. It'seems a fine example and well worth a visit.

Standing near the church at Drumcliff in co. Sligo this is an impressive high Celtic cross which is worth looking at after visiting Yeat's grave.

I like looking a old Celtic stones and crosses and this one, although quite eroded has a number of nice carvings on it. The best is a camel on the back!
