Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Enjoyed a lovely Christmas walk around Howth Head towards the beautiful Bailey Lighthouse. Its a beautiful setting looking out across Dublin Bay.
Didn't go in and I doubt that you can even in non-Covid times but it still represents a lovely sight to walk towards. The whole Summit and Head walk is quite magnificent to be fair. A great way to clear the post Christmas cobwebs!

Stumbled upon this trail when touring about North Dublin in the car. Howth summit is worth a visit even if you just stay in the car park. You can look back down the estuary to Dublin harbour and the Wicklow Mountains but if you feel energetic take the trail and walk down to Baileys lighthouse. The trail takes you quite close to the cliff edge but the pictures of secluded bays and rolling heather will keep you wanting to explore even more.
From the car park you can also turn towards Howth which we plan on our next visit

A breathtaking view! Up to the hill the lighthouse is the place that you dream to spent a night. Isolated in the hills away from everything . It was great to see it

This pretty historic lighthouse is all part of the harbor at Howth and the "Eye of Ireland", section of Howth. Spent a few hours there today. This is a lot like Nyhavn in Copenhagen except less touristy, better views, and better fresh fish, cooked in various restaurants along the harbor where you can also view the lighthouse from multiple spots.
Note: There are also takeaway seafood shops close by the lighthouse if you want to cook it yourself at home or on a BBQ grille.
Give it a go, it is worth it.

Baily Lighthouse is one of the two lighthouses located in the Howth Peninsula (the other is the Howth Lighthouse). It is beautiful, but pitifully is not possible to arrive there by walk or car, because the entrance is close. We only can see it from far away. A good place to come if you stay in the surroundings of Dublin.

Drive the short distance to the Howth Summit and then take the short walk along the trails from the parking lot. The views of Baily Lighthouse are stunning on a bright day. We were there in May when the goarse was blooming and lined the trails with a brilliant yellow.

Just below the Summit (about 400 meters), Baily Light is propped beautifully on a hill jutting into the water. It is beautiful in its own right with a uniquely built base topped by the light. However, the view across the water to the Wicklow Mountains, Dublin and even Dalkey is the magnet for those traveling out to the light. The lighthouse can be reached by bus to the Summit or one of the cliff walks around the hills. Not to be missed when in Howth!

Make sure to walk from the Summit car park by taking the trail down towards the lighthouse, or across the cliff path to the Nose of Howth. The light house is beautiful and a good hike. If you can catch her on a beautiful day, you will be all the better and satisfied at this natural beauty. With views out to the Wicklow mountains and across Dalkey and Dublin city, there is much to see. Howth PRIDE!

Situated at the tip of the Hill of Howth is the Baily Lighthouse, it is just beautiful for it's situation, I don't think you can go in, well not yet anyway, but worth a stroll down to from the summit and just enjoy a part of a walk around Howth head. Well worth a look, enjoy.

I will be staying in Howth in June 2017 and having a particular affinity for lighthouses I would love to visit the Baily Lighthouse. However, my 83-year old mother will be traveling with me. Is it possible to drive all the way out to the lighthouse, or do we need to hike there? If so, how far is the walk and is it even? My mother is quite fit, but I wouldn't like to risk injury on the first day in Ireland! Would love to receive some feedback from those in the know.
Thanks in advance. This site is awesome and the contributions on Ireland is particularly helpful.
