It was easy to find. When you turn off the last road there is a sign about a private road, but I believe that is the next turn to the right, which clearly goes up to a house. But if you turn left there instead,...More

We had a beautiful day on our visit to Dundalk so we decided to take a walk to the Proleek Dolmen. The walk is nice through the hotel grounds, a golf course, and even over a small mossy bridge. (It may be a bit muddy...More

10 minutes peaceful and quiet walk through Ballymac grounds and you will reach the Proleek Dolmen - older than the pyramids! Its not spectacular but it is a nice ending to a ramble and will make you think about the civilization that existed around that...More

Dates from 4-5000 BC, well worth a visit. Throw a stone onto flat stone and if it stays your wish will be granted.!!!!!

Lovely walk to see it through beautiful Ballymascanlonn hotel grounds and golf course. County Louth at its best. Should a courting couple throw a pepple that stays up on the headstone they will marry within a year....so legend says!

Hidden away in north county Louth is this excellent example of an ancient Proleek. Enter by walking through the fabulous Ballymacsanlon hotel, or via the rear entrance. A free easy to find tourist attraction.

This is on the grounds of Ballymascanlon House Hotel. The walk is through the lovely gardens in the grounds, along a back lane and through the golf course and on a sunny day it's a beautiful walk. You can have a drink at the bar...More

This Dolmen is found by getting through a hotel property and golf course but worth the walk. There are good markings. We enjoyed it. The Dolmen was huge and very impressive.

What a lovely place to visit! I had never heard of it before a quick look on tripadvisor before a visit to the Dundalk area and I hold with the previous reviews that recommend it as a great option if you're in the area. It...More

This is very easy to do and see so I'm surprised more people don't do it. Simply get to the Ballymascanlon Hotel and find the signs for the Dolmen. A short ten minutes walk along the golf course gets you to this ancient dolmen. After...More
