.....I want it all to myself. I've been coming here all my life and I've never stopped getting excited when you descend down into the woods and this castle appears. With so much of it left, you get some sense for how these people lived. The square footage is probably not much bigger than your average McMansion. With electronic gate... More

While Carey's castle is on the small side as far as castles go it is a wonderful spot to visit with a lovely walk through the woods. There are a lot of little places to explore and no area is off limits.

Nice place for a walk through the forest, not too long before you get to the ruins. There is good bit of the castle preserved, you can even climb inside. Looks pretty cool if you're into old castle ruins.

At the end of a day's full of driving, we found ourselves in Clonmel and decided to check out Carey's Castle. We had read that this castle is unique in that it is located within a forest. Lovely looped walk, nice and easy for families. Great to bring the dog or have a picnic. It's a short walk, but you can explore off trail and near the stream. Lots of fun, kids love exploring the castle ruins.

Great place to go for a wander around, plenty of interesting things to be found in the surrounding woods and nice place to go with a flask of tea. It's a pity that during the summer it gets turned into a castle of empty cans and flagons, as it's a popular place for enjoying boisterous revels. It would be nice... More
