The beach seems to go on for miles (at low tide, anyway). There is a supervised bathing area near the town, also two demarcated surf areas. But there is loads more - great for walking. Excellent sand for castle-building!

We stopped by on our way south from the Cliffs of Moher on a glorious sunny day for a 'refreshing' dip in the cold Atlantic ocean. Although a beautiful day, the beach was practically empty -maybe it was still too hot at 4pm? The Inagh...More

I was able to walk a great distance. On the way back, as the tide was rising, (5ish) there was less sand to walk on. Not long before there was no sand to walk on left and the surfers were loving the waves. Lots of...More

Perfect end to another heatwave day in Ireland. Jumping over the waves is one of life’s pleasures and should not be restricted to children only

Fantastic beach even when the weather is not so good. Big waves, great for surfers. Plenty of (paid) parking along the promenade. Great for walking even in bad weather

I enjoyed viewing this beach. It was a rainy day in April and the temperature was in the 50s so no swimming for us. Although 2 young ladies did jump in while we were there.

Yes, I have seen horses being ridden on the beach and you can get down via a ramp, but the beach is not huge (not miles of coastline) but a large bay.
