I cannot believe in 15 years we have some how missed the delight that is Chateau de Beaulon. It's only 5 euro for access to the gardens (rare species and stunning display) the "fountaine bleu " and a cognac tasting. There is a whole fairy story behind the fountaine bleu which is great and makes it a lot more interesting.... More

We holiday in Charentes quite often and over the years have visited the various places listed as "Treasure of Charentes". This year we visited Chateau de Beaulon, the last on the list. We arrived during the lunch period, and as the gate were still open we drove in. After parking in the small parking area we walked around the formal... More

The lake is fantastic but it will cost you 5 Euro each to look. The rest of the gardens are pretty ordinary. The gatekeepers are fastidious in getting their 5 euro a head - even charged us for a child who couldnt have cared less for the green lake. The cost kind of spoils it but the lake is amazing.

Very welcoming personnel doing the Cognac and Pineau tasting. And beautiful gardens to tour. Well worth a visit!

It is worth stopping to walk through the gardens to view the 'Fontaines Bleue' - 5 natural springs which are a vivid turquoise. The walk through the gardens is pleasant. The entry fee includes cognac tastings in the chateau, where you can only visit one room.

Visited this Chateau with my wife last year and found it to be very enjoyable, the gardens are lovely and the Chateau is very picturesque. We bought some Cognac, not the most expensive but its great, if we're back in the region will go back and buy some more

poor. Not very well presented. Went to see the gardens. Disappointing...all they wanted was to sell their Cognac...

We are dismayed with the negative opinions of the two French reviewers. That's because we found our visit to Chateau Beaulon -- plus its gardens, its dovecot and its distillery and vineyards -- to be totally enchanting. We use the word 'enchanted' advisedly, because there really is a magical atmosphere surrounding the gardens' main attractions, namely its famous Blue Pools.... More
