Pontine plan ponds as they were before 1920s reclamation.
Oct 2018 • Friends
It is a 100-hectare park in which have been recreated the humid environments that were located in the Pontine plain before the land reclamation started in the 1920s.
Hundreds are the species of birds that stop here during the migration period; visitors can see them from the observation points around the ponds.
The park is adjacent to the southern walls of the Garden of Ninfa because this was the landscape that the inhabitants of the medieval village of Ninfa saw until 1381 when their village was destroyed.
The Pantanello park is managed by the LIPU - Italian Bird Protection League - and can be visited from October to March.
Organized groups and schools can visit it at any time of the year by booking a guided tour.
Admission costs € 6 and there is parking for cars and tourist buses.
