About
Garden of four acres closely planted with many rare trees, shrubs and perennials open to the public for the National Garden Scheme, a charity which benefits mainly cancer and nursing charities. We are open most days, but it is advisable to check our phone message to avoid disappointment. Llwyngarreg continues to develop further, delighting plant lovers with its many rarities incl species Primulas, many bamboos with Roscoeas, Hedychiums and Salvias extending the season through to riotous autumn colour. Trees and rhododendrons have been underplanted with perennials. The sunken garden for tender/exotic gems and gravel terraces with formal pool continues to mature. Springs form a series of linked ponds across the main garden, providing colourful bog gardens.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

my friend and I visited this wonderful garden last Thursday morning. We were blown away by the marvellous range of plants, so beautifully displayed in your amazing borders! Of the six gardens we visited the only one which came close to it was the National Botanical Gardens of Wales!

Firstly, please call before you go, the garden is maintained by the couple who live there so if they have to go out, you don't get to go in and believe me, what a disappointment that would be. We turned up mid week, around the middle of July, not expecting much to be honest, but how wrong we were. Through a bamboo tunnel, you enter a different world. A wonderful mix of bamboos lead you passed pools, rhododendron and azalea bushes to a Woodland walk which gives you tempting glimpses of what else there is to see. It unfolds into a cottage garden with wonderful borders, a sunken garden showcasing alpines, a vegetable garden and even a new area which will be an orchard and meadow. Couldn't recommend it enough!

Lovely tranquil garden with lots of interesting plans. Especially the live willow sculptures!

Kids enter free and well worth the adult entry fee!

Blown away by this amazing garden. It is a huge 4 acre area filled with lots of established trees and shrubs. Magnolias, Rhododendrons and Bamboos are in plentiful supply. The stream running through the garden is highlighted with bridges and a vast array of water loving plants. My favourite, though a difficult choice, was the wild grass area full of Snake’s head Fritillary. ( An idea I am going to use in my own garden). I also loved the home made whimsical ornaments and living structures dotted around. I most certainly will be back to see the garden whenever I am in the area again. The enthusiasm of Mr O’Neill was a joy to see and he kindly let me have a couple of plants to take home. And all this started because students of his bought him a Rhododendron and the rest they say is history.

A beautiful secluded garden. The hosts have done an amazing job creating a mature garden in just 20 years. The variety of trees is very impressive, especially as most were grown from seed.

This was one of the best gardens we have ever visited. The attention to detail and the variety of plants and trees carefully maintained by just two people, husband and wife, is truly brilliant. If you are ever near Whitland please go and see this garden especially as all monies go to charity.

A wonderful absorbing experience. We were made to feel very welcome and spent almost three hours here. The enthusiasm, imagination and dedication of the owners is manifested around evey corner. Many unusual plants some of which can be bought at very reasonable prices (proceeds to charity). A beautiful and uplifting garden which we will visit again when we travel down from Yorkshire. Marvellous.

Phone before visting to ensure that the garden is open on your intended visit day.
