Giveaways and coffee.

Its a very nice place to visit. They sell a lot of pleasant giveaways. There is also a cozy restaurant if you like to have a cup of coffee or a lunch.

Sweden has this really bad tradition in calling all the medium and large buildings "castles" It is just another mansion, privately owned, can only see it from outside and be careful where you walk because everything around the area are private properties. I had to wait till 12:00 for the gates to the park to be open, even though the... More

The "castle" is really nothing special. There quite a few "castles" that are much more interesting. The coffee shop is dark and all the pastries are not covered. Not good at all. Some years ago this place had an interesting glass exhibition but today nothing like that....

Steninge is out by the airport and away for the crowds of Stockholm. A good place to walk around, visit the on site plant nursery or best of all have a relaxing lunch or snack in the restaurant. There are seasonal markets - best known for Julmaknad. There is also a gift shop that sells various products for the home.

A castle? More like a mansion. The lake and woods around the castle are more interesing, as well as the shop and restaurant (Stenige Kok & Skafferi), which serves simple meals.

Actually nice shopping experience any time of year. Xmas market though is a very popular event. Bought some nice last minute gifts at the shop.

Great views from the grounds and access to the frozen lake. The ice was about a foot thick at Easter, so walking on it was no problem. The main building, other buildings in the grounds and the clock tower are impressive and photogenic. The castle is closed at the moment until summer 2013 for renovation, but it's worth a visit... located 60 km north of Stockholm. A little castle to visit if you have some time to spend. Walking around or take a guided tour inside the small casle is nice.
