Parking is always pot luck here but it is what it is.
It's reasonably price for a swim session. However, the pool is so cold you don't stay in there long. The kids always shiver.
We popped to the toilets and men's loo was ankle deep in old water which was cringe. Clearly a blocked drain or something. You just didn't know what you was standing in. Too long a que at the desk to report.
There's no slides or anything fun just a cold pool.

Visited with kids & friends for the pool's "fun" swim.
Pool is clean, not busy & well priced.
Pool was really cold, especially the baby pool, showers were freezing.
Impolite staff who gave the impression that they had far better things to do than be there. They definitively didn't go to charm school, or if they did they need to go back & retake the "this is how you talk to people with a smile" module.

Stoped going to the pool and gym, now travel to Barnstaple Hotel
The pool was cold and the changing rooms smell of urine, (Ladies) showers slow and cold, gym is always busy, but equipment is a bit dated . Staff are as cold as the pool !

My youngest is the 3rd child of mine to go to swimming lessons here and each child has had Sonia as a teacher and she has been amazing for each of them. She puts in so much effort and definitely has not lost her enthusiasm for teaching children to swim over the years! Highly recommend for lessons!

I have been using this facility for over 9 years and whereas some of the earlier comments had some merit (not quite as bad as made out) they certainly do not apply now. Torridge Council took this in house in April this year. The gym now has state of the art equipment, both pools were drained and refurbished, the changing rooms have been updated and there is even a coffee bar for those who just want to watch!
Oh; and all the staff I meet have certainly been to 'charm school'. Check out the web site for swimming times and group studio sessions. We are very lucky to have this facility on our doorstep.

This is a great facility for Northam and the surrounding area. The pool is very well used and caters for everyone from the strongest swimmers to the weakest. There are water aerobics five times a week and are always well attended. Lots of different classes everday again something for everyone. The gym has recently been refurbished and again is always busy. I agree the showers are nothing to write home about but if you don't like using them go home and shower. Can be smelly occasionally maybe due to babies nappies and toddlers weeing in the showers. The girls always work hard hosing them down. Like I say a great facility enjoyed by many...don't always look at the negatives.

Visited pool with son and haven’t been for a couple years - I have to say it’s gone downhill. Will only take cards and you need your own padlock or buy one from reception. The ones you buy are about £3 but they’re really difficult to use as numbers are not clear - so bring your own. The changing rooms are grubby, toilets dirty and their idea of cleaning is putting detergent on the floor and then hosing it down (whilst you’re changing). Showers are poor, though they were at least warm. Whole changing area needs a good scrub! The sauna was good. Pool was comfortable heat; we went at end of day and there was usual debris in pool floor. It could do so much better though, with just a little bit of elbow grease. Think I’ll try Barnstaple Motel like one of the other reviewers.

I have been a member of the above for three years for swimming only. In that time I've had various disagreements with the staff over the lockers, website,timetable and opening hour in general. I get the impression the staff have their hands tired by the EVERY POOR management who hid behind there so called Charity status. The accounts filed at Companies House make interesting reading. Only Torridge council know the reasons for outsourcing this facility to an outside company. Perhaps in a few years when the lease comes up for attention SOMTHING will happen!!!!!

I am visiting the area for Christmas, so called last week to ask if I could use the gym to run as a non member. I also asked about opening hours over the holidays. I was told I could use the gym, not a problem and the centre was closed on 25th and 26th.
Yesterday, I went to find the centre closed, early. I have just been again and told I could not use the gym without an induction. Fair enough but when I said I had called in advance and I just wanted to run, I was told I needed a key for the machines that only members have and an induction.
There were 5 members of staff just hanging around the reception area but no offers of help. One of them could easily have shown me the running machine but like in the other review, they looked as though they couldn’t care less. A complete waste of time.
