We came here in the morning and had to wait 3 hours before the ferry came. Upstairs is a nice bar/resto but I would recommend going if you can go back within the hour

A beautiful serene and tranquil place to visit. The church has amazing decoration and is such a peaceful and moving place. The views across the lake are wonderful. Well worth a visit on the boat from Stresa. Although there are signs to say no shorts...More

As other reviewers have said, a short ferry ride from Stresa, a regular timetable daily. The church with the chanting (probably on a loop) was serene, and atmospheric. The views were fabulous and it really is worth the visit, if only for an hour. I...More

We visited more as a last minute time filler than something planned buy am so pleased we did. The boat from Stresa took around 15 minuets and was supprusingly cheap, two adults costing just over 13 euro return. Considering how long it would take by...More

This is a nice monastry built into the side of a cliff with an interesting history and a nice boat ride from Stresa to get there. From the lake landing there are about 60 to 70 steep steps up to the monastry/church level. There is...More

One of our group suggested a detour on our way north to Como and a fantastic place it turned out to be. Set essentially at the bottom of a cliff next to lake Maggiore, it is a perfect setting. Now there is a lift to...More

To me this place was enchanting. As I walk down the hundreds of steps to this majestic site built into a cliff I remember all the labor that has gone into this building and I am thankful for their work. The view is spectacular, the...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Hii Everybody.. I am new in Italy.. And feeling excited about seeing the chapel of "Santa Caterina del Sasso Ballaro". Can anyone help me in planning trip to the amazing place. So far I manage to understand the railway station Stresa connected by Milano. My queries are: 1. From Stresa where do I get boat/ship to Santa the church? 2. How much the ship would be charging for single person? 3. Is the ship/boats are frequent or have be wait for long hours to get one ferry? 4. What's the entry fee for the chapel? I really really need to know the answers. Can somebody please answer my queries
