Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We just walked along the beach and didn't swim while it was rather cold. The wind was strong that made us staying at the beach for a short time only. Anyway, it was nice to be there to hear the wave and see the view of the ocean.

We had a lovely time at Peka Peka beach. Despite it being a really sunny, warm day - it wasn't too crowded. There isn't a lot of shade there but there are plenty of places to sit and relax. The water was warm (for New Zealand) and the waves were not too high for us swimmers. It is a shame that they are still allowing vehicles on the beach here though - some people are not very thoughtful when they drive along.

Lovely stretch of beach. Quite windy. Little one had a great time. Fantastic waves and water not too cold. If you want to take a ball, be ready to chase it down the beach. Beautiful and quiet, perfect for a family day

I've been visiting here since I was a young teenager and now live here. White sands and a safe swimming beach with wonderful cafes in neighbouring Waikanae.

Pekapeka Beach was festooned with logs after recent storms and there was much evidence of erosion but it had such a magnificent, wild quality to it that I was totally charmed. It's priceless stuff for New Zealanders like me who may now be resident in Asia or elsewhere. The walking is fantastic. The rugged wind, the broiling sun, the matchless views of Kapiti Island itself are all we need to spin off into rhapsodies.

Nice beach a short drive north of Waikanae. There is parking available just by the entrance to the beach and you can also drive onto the beach. It is a nice beach to have a walk on. When we visited there was a lot of drift wood on the beach, which would making driving on the beach a bit tricky. State highway 1 heading north is not too far away from the beach (less than 5 minute drive)

We spent the day going up the coast stopping along the way and this was our favourite beach and walk. Just gorgeous and no one else around and it was a Saturday.

Big wide sandy beach with dunes behind. Perfect to get up next to them to get out of the wind and watch the sunset over Kapiti Island.
Good for practicing your surfing in right conditions and apparently good for taking your car or 4x4 bike down for a blast which wasn’t so good when you just want to enjoy the peace and quiet. Easy to park by and generally a nice clean beach.

Sandy beach typical of Kapiti coast. Long flat beach with easy breaking waves with a nice benign surf break, great for beginners to intermediate.

Great for a long family walk, great for dogs.

Can drive vehicles but better for passive walks and swims.

Ok for Blokarts when the tide is out.

Interesting array of shells and wildlife.
