This church was covered in lava on the lower levels. It still stands. The lava cooled and raised the level of the lower floors. This is a nice quick stop on your way to other sites/

Better half and I decided to go on a short adventure in the "local" area rather than hop on a plane to a nearby country. This day we decided to visit a church famous for its long life and at having been buried by the...More

Even after the devastation of the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in the 90s, the 4 century-old church is still standing defiantly and beautifully in Bacolor. It was said that it is currently reduced to half of its former size. Its old materials and massive grounds welcome...More

At first glance, it is hard to believe that half of this structure is buried. But upon closer look, it becomes more obvious. When you step inside the door (that used to be a window high above the ground) and see the re-built interior, it...More

An old church devastated by lahar in the 1990s . 18ft of lahar. There is a museum ,paintings and statues at the side of the church . We recommend to visit during the Lenten season.

A must visit in Pampanga, you get to see how this church is taken care of despite being half buried from lahar. Old but beautiful interiors, there is a gallery where you can see the church before Mt Pinatubo errupted. Great experience with family.
