Spiritual and relaxed friary

The farmers markets are really special here. The run up to Christmas is the ideal time to visit to start getting into the mood for festive cheer!

Visited the Friary with family members to remember a recently decreased friend who frequented this place over the last few years. There is a great sense of calmness and peacefulness as you wander around and through the grounds. The gardens are very neat and very well maintained. This is indeed a special place and a location where you can reflect... More

If you like your religious fix this is a great place to visit you can sense the history. If you don't like the religious stuff this is still a very historical venue with lots to learn. It has a nice shop and cafe and the grounds well kept. I wonder sometimes why these places are not made more commercial this... More

Located adjacent to River Medway, the Friars is a sprawling estate with the centrepiece duckpond populated by hundreds of ducks and geese. Offers inexpensive excellent meals on Sundays - but thats supposed to be a secret only the locals know. Magnificent architecture. Many interesting weekend events for kids and couples. Separate building with tea room and shop. Occasional ice-skating for... More

What a beautiful peaceful place to visit in this fast track world that we live in. Just had a tea in the thatched cafe, thought cakes were a little pricey for what was there and the slices of sponge were very very small.

This is an ideal place to visit for a half day's excursion. There is a charge of £2 for car park. No one is there to collect it. They have faith in your honesty. If you want a place of peace and reflection then this is the place. The Monks still live there but your rarely see one. There is... More
