About
Honeybourne Pottery is a family business run by potter’s Alan & Annabel Cusack, who live and work in the beautiful countryside bordering the North Cotswolds. We specialise in both wheel- thrown and slab-built pieces, creating functional hand-crafted tableware. When were not busy making our own designs, we teach classes catering for individuals, families and groups. We welcome people of all ages - from complete beginners to those with more experience. Our studio and tranquil setting, create a calm space away from the stresses of the outside world, where people can escape for a few mindful hours learning about the beauty of clay. Workshops range from one-off potter’s wheel taster sessions, to longer courses; spanning 10-week terms, taught from our studio in Honeybourne. For more details and booking, please visit our website. We look forward to welcoming you to our studio!

    Fun & Chill Pottery Experience
Upon entering Honeybourne Pottery, you're greeted with smiles - a very nice welcoming. You can see many pieces on display - they are amazing so you know they're not all talk! The Instructor was very friendly foremost; clear and concise with the introduction as they know you want to get stuck into the pottery experience asap. They do leave you to have fun, so no pressure but they check in on you often to top off your water supply and give you tips and tricks to help you if you're having trouble. The atmosphere was very chill and friendly. We were able to take whichever clay pots we made home however, it would've been nice to let them dry, glaze them and have them to keep but understandably, it would require a lot more time/days. However, I highly recommend to anyone - just for the experience, for beginners or like me, want to relive the potter's wheel as it had been many years from college.

    Great experience
We has such a lovely time. Alan was really friendly and gave helpful tips on technique as we were all beginners. Our class was set up to teach 10 so we had opportunity to ask questions individually, but we were given space to get on ourselves which was really nice as it's quite therapeutic. The wheels were easy to use and we each got plenty of clay. If we're back in the area again we'd definitely do a half day as 90 minutes felt like it went so quickly! Thanks for a great experience!

    A super workshop
A great experience enjoyed with my grand daughter. Alan was a great host and gave a very clear demonstration and support throughout of 3 hour workshop. There was plenty of clay to play with, some pots ended in the bin but managed to bring several home with us at the end of the session, will definitely do this again.

    Really enjoyable taster session!
Really enjoyable taster session! There were 3 generations of us at the session and we all had a great time. We had enough time to get to know how to manipulate the clay and what worked and what didn’t. The instruction from Alan was clear and friendly. Definitely recommended

    Enjoyable and creative
This is on behalf of my 11 year-old granddaughter, who really enjoyed the experience, and now patiently waiting for her pots to dry off so that she can start painting! The Pottery is very well set up with wheels and there is a good provision of clay. Alan fully explained the process and gave excellent guidance as the would-be potters progressed.

    Very enjoyable day
What a fantastic half day & venue! This was a gift for my 50th Birthday, although I have used a wheel in the past, I still learnt lots and where I was going wrong . The staff were very friendly and gave very clear instructions. It was my stepdaughter’s first time, she managed to produce a lovely pot to take home. The venue was easy to find, had parking outside and was well laid out. If you are thinking of a gift for family or friends, this pottery workshop is well worth it.

    Half day workshop
Great workshop! Friendly and welcoming with clear demonstrations taking you through the basics of centering clay and how to throw it into your items of choice on the wheel. 3 hours was a nice length of time with unlimited clay to develop those skills. A fun workshop - definitely recommend.

    A brilliant experience
A great taster experience on the potters wheel. We had an 90 minute session which started with a useful tutorial at the beginning before being let loose on your own clay creations. Great fun and very therapeutic even if your creations are total rubbish! You get to take home one for free with extra items £3 each. Thoroughly recommended.

    Highly recommend. Must visit!
Highly recommend this activity either for a group or couple. I booked this a surprise for my partners birthday and wow did it exceed my expectations. It was a great laugh and really therapeutic. We started off with a run through on how to use the wheel etc so we understood the basics and then were left to our own creative devices. I really enjoyed it and so did my partner. We were part of a class with different groups which actually wasn't as bad as i expected it to be. You get unlimited clay to make and can take home the pots with you which is great. One pot is free and they charge you for others, but if like me you weren't a pro at this you only will want to take one away with you. Aprons are charged at £2 per person, which in all fairness is reasonable for a small business. I'd recommend getting one. The studio is clean, bright and airy, it was decorated really well. I could not recommend this enough and would be inclined to go again. It's certainly a good activity for a group.

    Much fun had.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Not as easy as Alan makes it look. A nice, chilled atmosphere to help you relax into creating your masterpieces. We're looking at booking again at some point and we'll definitely recommend it to others. Possibly bring some with us next time.

This was such a great experience. A lovely environment and really friendly and helpful staff. We made a couple of decent pots in our 90 min taster. Felt that we were very welcome and mistakes are welcomed as learning experiences. Can’t praise it highly enough. And the pub over the road does great food, homemade cakes and fab coffee.

A brilliant experience from start to finish. A genuinely warm welcome from Alan and Annabel which put us at ease straight away. The format of the session clearly explained, and the demonstration made everything clear.
The equipment was all in very good condition, and we were provided with plenty of clay. Using the techniques we were shown earlier, 3 of the 4 of us managed to produce some passable pots etc. (there will always be one who doesn't get it).
Something we've long wanted to do and I think we chose the best place to do it! Happy memeories to be treasured for ever.

We had such a good experience at Honeybourne Pottery. They hosted our hen party and unfortunately we were a bit late but the instructors were understanding, brought us up to speed and got us up and running quickly. The studio is gorgeous and the equipment is brilliant quality. Our bride to be had a lovely time and was very happy we could take our creations home with us at the end. Thank you for the great experience!

My nephews girlfriend booked this experience for my sister as a birthday present. We were the only 3 attendees so it was lovely and relaxed. Alan was very friendly and showed us what to do and we were off! It was great fun and I can thoroughly recommend it. An hour and a half flew by.

We had great fun on our Sten do - however we found it very bizarre that we were emailed only a day before telling us it would cos £2 each just towear one of their aprons (then give it back to them). I believe this should have been included in the £60 price. They also only give you the pleasure of taking one of the pots you have made home with you and if you’d like to take another you must pay for any extra. At £60 for an hour and a half we believe an apron and the clay we are using should be included. Especially as they were using our session as content for their Instagram. The staff were nice but I wouldn’t recommend to a friend due to the extra charges.

Hi Chloe, thank you for visiting us on Saturday - we are so glad to hear you had great fun on Daniel's Sten. Regarding the additional prices you refer to, we give full information regarding this on our website. Info regarding aprons is also detailed in the confirmation email customers receive upon booking and included in the reminder email sent the day before. Apron hire is not essential - some customers prefer to bring their own or simply wear clothes they don't mind getting a little messy. The small £2 hire cost of an apron covers the utility & labour costs of washing & drying. On all our workshops, guests are given unlimited clay for the duration of the class and allowed to create as many pots are they wish (we are one of the very few studios to not limit clay usage). In addition, each participant is entitled to take their favourite pot away with them, included in the workshop price. Clay is not an inexpensive material, so unfortunately we're unable to allow the great volumes of pots made, to be taken away without a small charge at £3 per pot. Again, all of this information is made very clear on our website to read prior to booking. We completely understand however if customers do not wish to hire an apron or pay for additional pots on the day, it is totally optional. It is also worth considering, as you were a group of over 10, a discount of £60 was applied to your booking as one person attended for free. We rarely gather footage for social media and if we do, we always seek permission and ensure everyone is completely happy before doing so. Many thanks, Alan
