This review is long overdue - by fifteen years. In 2005 my wife and I made it to St Kilda on the last trip of the season. I was attempting to reach every inhabited island in Scotland (and perform magic on each one - I'm a magician) and St Kilda eluded me for a full year. I tried fishing boats, RIBs, a Russian icebreaker, military helicopter, dive boat, yacht, 1920s Shetland boat, work party...you name it. Everything failed. It was only hearing of Angus (and his mate Fachie) that made the trip possible. The window of travel was small, most people got ill and it rained, but it was magnificent. Angus and Fachie made us feel safe and secure and they would absolutely be my first choice in going again. St Kilda was the last island on my list, and it is only with their help that I finished my tour successfully. Thank you guys!

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough that the weather cleared on our last full day in the Hebrides and we were able to take the trip to Kilda. We took tablets as a precaution (so we didn’t join the poor souls vomiting during the crossing), and both felt safe in the professional, capable hands of the crew. Because of Kilda Cruises, we were able to hike and photograph Hirta, sail around the stacs, and enjoy an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend this company. Thank you!

I booked with them 10 months ago for a visit to St Kilda 3 weeks ago. They plan to a two day window where if you book for a monday and the weather is terrible (like what happened to me) then it is re-arranged for the next day. For me it was like a "I came, I saw, I conquered" type deal. The crossing to the archipelago took almost 3 hours and despite the Atlantic swell not being that big, most of the people on the sailing were sea sick (not me however). It's an amazing day! After exploring Hirta, the boat tours the sea stacs and formidable cliffs of Boreray which is populated with a breathtaking and unquantifiable number of Gannets, Shearwaters, Guillemots and Razorbills! All in all, its a long day but it is worth it! Kilda Cruises are the way forward!

We were lucky enough to go out on our booked day to St Kilda. The boat trip was certainly memorable as one of the 2 on board who didn't end up at the back trying to hold back their breakfast. If you think you have any chance of getting seasick take all the tablets. It was an interesting little place. It helps the appreciation I think if you know some of the history before going. A good amount of time to do a walk along the top of the island. The trip around the sea stacks with the commentary was great. Altogether it was a great tour.

Dear Winnifred15, Thank you for your review and you are certainly lucky to have a robust constitution, resistant to mal-de-mer. Your advice is good and we do find that it is helpful to passengers to spend time on the outside seating if they are feeling queasy. Thanks also for your observation that it is good to know some background history about St Kilda before your trip. I would agree with that and thanks for choosing to travel with us to St Kilda.

I can't thank Kilda Cruises enough for the unforgettable adventure to this magical isle. We were incredibly lucky with the weather on our 'reserve' day (the second of two potential days to travel - it's no problem to be flexible. This is the wild North Atlantic after all!) The journey there was fantastic. It really was a genuine adventure. Skipper Fachie and his colleague went above and beyond to ensure the comfort and safety of the passengers, and very deftly made you forget that you were bobbing out into the wilds of the Atlantic for over two hours. It's a dramatic moment when you see St Kilda come into view on the horizon, after seeing only sea for a few hours, and you'll never forget it. The arrival onto the island was all done smoothly with the crew carefully helping each passenger onto a motorised dingy in order to reach the landing station. There was a very useful and welcoming chat from the NTS lady, with suggested walks if you fancied them. Everyone dispersed to explore the things that appealed to them, and the four hours went by so quickly. For my travel companion and I it was all about soaking up the atmosphere of what remains of the village settlement, and thinking about the intrepid and hardy community who lived there until 1930. Other travellers climbed the peaks of the island over the four hours and had fascinating stories to tell. We were blessed with incredible sunshine - not always the case! - and it was warm enough to potter about in a t-shirt. Back on the boat we were offered tea, coffee and cake. We had a very smooth journey home, with a fascinating detour around the stacs to see the gannetries, with a detailed discussion from the crew who really know their wildlife. On reaching Leverburgh we were offered a very welcome dram. It's a trip you will never forget and a privilege to get a glimpse of an utterly unique place. Kilda Cruises made us feel so relaxed and safe so that we could really enjoy the incredible experience.

Tapadh leibh airson sin! It is very kind of you to give us such a generous review which shows a good understanding of what is involved in taking the trip to St Kilda and I am so pleased that your patience was rewarded. Your last sentence really chimed with me, as that is what we aim to do on our trips. I am delighted that we achieved it.
