We visited this place on the way down to Bath. A beautiful area of outstanding beauty. Yes there is alot of students there, but also its ideal for families and couples just to relax and chill! The steps are steep to got down to the water and slippery, but there is a warning sign up. There is toilets on site which is a bonus. There is people manning the crossing, which is great. The water area is dangerous, but if your careful then why not?!
My only thing is the lane is VERY tight...DON'T go down, park up on the grass verge or layby and walk over the fields and obviously visit in the nice weather for the best result!

Hidden gem of a place is not well maintained by the private owner !! Crowded by youngsters mainly.
There isn’t any safety protocol around the falls and you get in at your own risk.
There are chai wala and ice cream van who sell at outrageous overpriced treats.

We have just managed to have a little stop off & get some 1st hand history from the volunteers who are working here today, Phil being 1 of them.... Its very interesting although found out that the official 'tour' is actually not available due to current COVID19 restrictions, luckily we caught them on their lunch break....
I have one concerned reservation about the actual Weir itself in that the youngsters who are actually utalizing the area for recreation, allegedly encouraged by the landowner are not able to use any type of toilet facilities therefore the area is being deficated & rubbish isn't always being taken home... This really needs to be addressed to preserve this beautiful area & prevent future health issues...

I spent a couple of hours at the weir in mid-September. The atmosphere was peaceful and everyone was well-behaved. A friendly man was conducting a survey of the visitors, and he was helpful in putting a newcomer like me at ease. Warleigh weir is a lovely spot, and a good place for a rest while walking the Kennet and Avon canal path. And the water was great for a swim.

Went swimming here and my friend got her foot stuck in the ribcage of a dead cow. A DEAD COW SKELETON. Never going back, it was terrifying.
On top of that, brutally crowded with people leaving trash everywhere. Nappies, cigarette butts, broken bottles. Really sad this place isn't under better public management cause it could be so nice if maintained properly.

I grew up near here, and it used to be used and respected by locals, now its abused by visitors,& treated like a tip, visitors need to be more responsible for their rubbish, take it home, bag your dogs mess etc, dont ruin it for everyone else

Such a stunning location and a gorgeous place to swim. I arrived 12ish and there were only another 2 people there, by the time I left about 3.30 there were probably 100. There is a large field next to the weir for sunbathing, bbq's etc. The weir itself is shallow in most parts, but you can swim further in the river to get deeper. I would suggest water shoes as it is quite rocky underfoot. The water is so clean, so many fish and birds etc there; so beautiful.
Whilst I understand the negative points raised by a couple of people below, they have judged the location based on the behaviour of other visitors which cannot be helped. There were no 'yobs' when I was there, though there were people having a BBQ and playing sports of one type or another. Noisy? Yes. Having fun? Yes! Disruptive? No.
Nearby is a canal to walk along, the water pump station to see if it's open, and a stunning aqueduct 5 minutes away. Truly gorgeous location.
There was a mobile ice cream van on site (which took cards).
