A glorious riot of colour
Sep 2021
We visited this garden for the first time last weekend and were amazed at the colour from the start. We were welcomed at our arrival, and yes we did wear a mask while indoors but that is for all of our benefit so we were happy to do that. There was so much to see and extremely colourful. We were very impressed with how well kept it is. Most of the plants had name tags so we knew what to look for in the garden centre. We had a good look round before enjoying coffee and cake in the cafe, which were yummy, then went back for another quick look round to remind ourselves of the plants we wanted before buying them in the shop!

I would definitely go back, not only to see how the projects are coming along, but to see the garden in a different season.

A special RHS Partner garden
Sep 2021
Our visitors had suggested visiting Merriments Garden and garden centre on Sunday and ashamedly as locals we had never visited. We received a warm welcome from the staff and were shown to the gardens. The four acre site was a mass of colour even in mid September. There was a wonderful selection of plants throughout and although the recent renovations were not finished this did not spoil the day. The garden is flat and there were seats throughout. We then visited the garden centre and bought a couple of plants we had seen in the garden. It was very helpful to see that most of the plants in the garden had name labels. We thought the plants in the garden centre excellent quality and competitively priced. We then enjoyed coffee and delicious cakes and scones in relaxed surroundings. Throughout our visit we felt comfortable and happy to wear masks where we felt appropriate. We are planning another visit with our next guests before the garden closes at the end of October.

Please stop the masks
Sep 2021 • Couples
Don’t come here if you want to live your life as an individual just wanting to browse the lovely gardens and plants , for here , unfortunately masks are the order of the day .Nowhere else we have been is like this . Do you need a mask in the fresh air with no one around ?? Certainly we had some funny looks as we didn’t have one on . We used to live in Hurst Green and now live in Surrey and always visit and spend a few bob on the way to Hastings but never again , just made to feel like lepers . Please read the news and check statistics , most people double jabbed especially of a certain age which most of the visitors are here . If you want to wear one for the rest of your life, feel free , but it is personal choice not compulsory.

Pat in the back for service, it's a rare experience to experience such great natural customer service. You should pride yourself on it. Food was delicious and We felt very safe. Prices are very good so big ticks all round But ..1 small thing please update your online menu as we came for a breakfast and now you don't do them

We loved watching the birds at the bird hide
Aug 2021
This was a well kept garden which still had lots of colour in August. Although the pond was being repaired, not much of the garden was cordoned off and it didn't spoil our enjoyment. Some of the paths were very soggy underfoot, however, after the heavy rain. We really enjoyed watching the birds from the bird hide - a feature we haven't seen before in any other garden we have visited and there was a space for wheel chair users too.
We found the garden centre to be rather pricey and we didn't go into the cafe. The garden itself was reasonably priced as we had 2 for 1 tickets from Gardeners World.

Wait a while to go
Jun 2021
As other reviews say, there is work being undertaken at this garden. We had a long journey to get there ( meeting friends from Dartford) & although what was there was lovely & indeed it will be more so when the improvements are finished, it was a bit disappointing. problem was the restaurant- inept waitress who didn’t know what was on the menu & then took ages to bring our food. The garden staff are friendly & knowledgeable if you are looking for a particular plant but the restaurant staff need customer service training as they - particularly this waitress - weren’t.

We visited Merriments for the first time last week. Super garden centre, and well set out. We didn't look around their gardens as the weather wasn't great, but instead had lunch in the cafe.
Staff were all very attentive, and friendly.
Very clean, and a good choice for a light lunch.

NOT VERY MERRY AT ALL!
May 2021
This was not a great experience for a garden lover ... recently developed garden with some merit ... however it's right next to a busy road so traffic noise spoils the peace ... and at the time of our visit, half the garden was cordoned off due to major re-landscaping ... but this was not reflected in the entry fee of £9 per person : ful price charged ... poor value ... disappointing.

Disappointing as wanted English breakfast
Jun 2021 • Couples
Fabulous garden centre. Beautiful surroundings & lovely warm & welcoming staff. But please cld you update yr website to mention that you aren't serving full English breakfast at the moment! If u did I apologise drove a long way only to be disappointed. Maybe a little advert in Wealden advertiser when u are starting again as breakfast was the best anywhere! 👌
