Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This Abbey, with the remains of Dom Perignon in a tomb at the Akers is a major attraction. It is worth seeing, but you MUST walk out the entrance and turn left down the country lane for about 300 yds. You will come to a REMARKABLE picnic area w three tables over looking the valley, a beautiful village and the Marne river. (See photo)

There's not a whole lot more to this abbaye than being an abbaye. Don't expect anything relating to Dom Perignon and Champagne.

A quick stop on most of the champagne tours. Worth seeing. It’s a cool little chapel in the champagne region.

We walked up here after a tasting and I was glad we did. It had a ton of character and charm. Very quiet and serene. We saw the tomb of the Dom and it was nice to see the church was still used - there were programs for a wedding that afternoon!

Somehow I expected the resting place of Dom Perringnion to be a little more’tourist friendly’.
The Abbey itself is pleasant though simple. Clearly it’s main function is as church rather than a monument.
Worth a visit though I wouldn’t put aside much more than half an hour.

I loved walking through this church and seeing this old piece of history.
it was a quick visit to walk in and through... but worth it if in Hautville

The village of Hautvillers is one of the few places in champagne where you see people and a bit of activity . It's very pretty and it's a no brainer to visit the abbaye. It's a unremarkable building but worth being there knowing the links to Dom Pierre Perignon

To be able to visit the grave of Dom Perignon was a seminal moment. An ancient church with an ancient history.

It is worth the walk to this lovely little church. It is light and airy and has the added curiosity of being where Dom Perignon is buried. There are clean public toilets located right near the entrance.

The church is currently undergoing quite a lot of repairs (March 2016). Nothing special, except for Dom Perignon's tomb which is marked by a flagstone towards the altar (on your left as you enter the church). 15-20 minute visit is plenty.

Grazie
