We visited Calbourne Mill as we had been many years ago and had great memories of the attraction. We did not realise the Mill is closed most of the time and unfortunately it now shows signs of needing a huge amount of time and money spent on the area to bring it back to its original state. The mill was working and the museum open but all was very dirty and tired looking. The stream running through is very pretty and there are plenty of birds and peacocks in the grounds. As we left we saw that the mill is up for sale so if you are planning a visit its best you check first to see if its open.

We stayed in Mill House for a week from 20th September, 6 adults in total. It was closed to the public as people have said which I can see would have been frustrating and it was a little tired and run down but after the 18 months they had probably been through you can forgive that.
For us it was perfect, we had peace and quiet for the week, free crazy golf so the first Cyder Cup was held! The staff were there on the morning every day and the Mill was running so got to see that as well. Location was good for getting around the island and being rural got some amazing unpolluted star gazing done as well.
We were incredibly lucky with the weather! Thank you to Wendy and staff.

Was there for a week staying in the mill house on arrival looked lovely and quaint. Unfortunately on closer inspection the place was dirty dusty and cobwebs everywhere. Very basic facilities broken appliances. Also was told the attraction was closing on the Monday which we was not told on booking. Will not be returning could be a beautiful holiday let just seems owners have given up

We arrived on a Friday excited for our visit, having travelled 45 minutes to get there and were incredibly annoyed when a fellow visitor informed us it was closed! Despite saying on their own website and Google that it was open! There was even a sign outside saying open so we phoned and they said they are only open weekends and were not aware of the opening times on the website. It should not take an arriving guest to inform them of their failings. A completely waste of time and fuel!

Arrived (13th September 2021) only to find a note on the door to say that it was closed for a private function. Website quite clearly states that it is open!!! Very disappointed but won’t bother going again if the website is not giving true information.

A truly beautiful example of England, from the open access to a working mill to the free-roaming peacocks and the curiosities in the museums on site. The adventure golf is great fun and the slabs of cake in the tea shop are superb. We got a free pass for unlimited returns during our stay on the island and a very warm welcome when we went back for a deciding round of golf (and another bit of coffee & walnut cake). Highly recommended.

The mill houses one off the best crazy golf courses we’ve enjoyed this holiday. There wasn’t much else to do at the mill though, lots of mini museums which the children breezed through, so it felt like a super expensive round of crazy golf, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. For the cafe, the cake was great but do not recommend it for a general lunch, the quality was very patchy. Gluten free cake (which was great) was the only gluten free option available other than a bag of crisps and an apple.

Lovely staff and a very gentle, calm setting. The old mill is wonderful and we had an interesting talk and saw it in action. We were able to buy some flavoured muesli and porridge in the shop - they also have a wide range of flour and jams/pickles. There is a cafe with delicious cakes and lots of peacocks, geese and ducks. There are some interesting mini museums - a trip back in time. We had a great game of mini golf (small additional charge), but the tickets themselves are half price at the moment, because not all the facilities are open. So long as you are looking for a gentle-paced, calm couple of hours, you will enjoy this place - it is not a fast food, theme park! It would be nice to see people supporting it though as there is a lot of history here.

Do yourself a favour and carry on driving past this place it looks nice from the road but basically your being charged £15 for a family of 4 to visit a park and a poor park at that and if you want to play crazy golf which to be honest you will as there is nothing else to do that will be another £12 to play on what is a tip of a course which has had no money spent on it since the seventies Considering the shutdown surely a small amount of money could have been spent to spruce this up ? oh and we were sold fish food at £2 a bag for a lake that had no fish in it you couldn't make it up only on the Isle of Wight I suppose.

This was such a let down
Spent £25 to get in, play golf and bag of duck food but there is nothing to do......
Dusty old machinery to look at but half of that is shut off, mill not working, no boats, no clay
The golf has seen better days, broken and so dirty it was revolting you did not want to pick your ball up, split and torn astro turf tops so ball would not roll....after being closed for so long you would think they would have given it all some love and made it great for reopening
To top it off tea room only accepted cash 😡
Shame but will never visit again.
Come on Calbourne pull your socks up.

Given the current situation, are they still selling bird seed and allowing us to hand feed the doves? This is what we enjoy the most when visiting.

Do you have to pay to go in the shop? It’s been a while and I’ve forgotten if the shop is before the paying booth.

Is the site wheelchair friendly?

The water mill itself requires the use of small stairs. Other parts of museum are small/cluttered. Wouldn’t think the rowing/punting/golf are particularly accessable either. If I was in a wheelchair, other than the cafe, I’m not sure I’d go. It’s a lot of money to do not a lot

Although I slated in my review the cafe and the prices, the Mill is really fascinating also the little museums scattered about with collections of “stuff” has some great curiosities.

Wartime museum. Also a museum with very old domestic appliances I.e . Fridges, cookers, typewriters, etc. Lots of old farm equipment.
