Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

For my birthday I went to the zoo and my partner surprised me with a meet and greet with the Rhino, Memphis. There were only 4 people in our group and we got to spend time patting and feeding Memphis whilst the Zoo keeper told us a bt about him and Rhinos in general. It was an amazing experience and... I spent a lovely day here with my extended family. My 9 year old son absolutely loves all the information/educational boards and has been bombarding me with animal facts for a week. The gardens look especially amazing at the moment and the staff are as always, fantastic!

I thought the Zoo lovely with so many trees and the animals in enviromental pens was nicely laid out. I enjoyed the walkthrough aviaries & I was interested too to see wild lorikeets & other birds interacting in the zoo grounds. I was upset to see people tormenting one of the tigers - I know it's impossible to keep idiots... More

Amazing location in South Perth not too far from the river. The zoo is beautifully laid out. The Aussie enclosure is special and would appeal to visitors to Australia for sure.

The zoo was well spaced out and a good size to get around and have time for a rest and food. The monkeys have a great enclosure and the night time enclosure was really interesting. Good value for money I thought.

I love Perth zoo, one of my faves. Been to lots of zoo's around the world and Perth zoo is right up there. Definitely better than London and Taronga. I would advise that people take their own food and drink as it quite expensive.

Thanks for the kind words 589janean, it is amazing to hear we rank higher than London and Taronga Zoo :) I will pass on your concerns about the cost of food to the external company that caters the food outlets. We hope to see you back soon! More

This zoo was clean and easy to get around. Most of the exhibits looked clean and a good size for the animals, although one of the elephants did looks stressed.

Hello de1881 thanks for the review. Our elephants are very well cared for with a behaviour enrichment program in place and the female elephants are also walked every morning. The keepers work hard to ensure they are happy and healthy :) More

Sounds like you had a great time at the Zoo Susan! We do get very busy on days like Mothers Day because we offer free entry to mums. While it is not the biggest zoo in Australia, it is a pretty zoo, enhanced by the beautiful gardens within the walls.
