Stumbled upon this place on a motorbike tour never knew this place existed and it's so cool to visit the place... Wish there was more detailed explanation about this place but visually it's amazing the climb is short but steep stairs but the view is just all worth it, best part is it's not crowded unlike Sigiriya and such places.... Glad I came here. We came here by our own transport and had a picnic. Ruins greatly restored. Peaceful place. Everywhere is green and view from the top is amazing

On the top of the mountain there is a pagoda and a shrine. Climb is not so difficult . But near the top of the mountain there are no steps. NIcely done stone statue of two lions are at the entrance to the rock.

The Yapahuwa Kingdom is one of the last places in Sri Lanka where you can still find the famous Sinhalese Lion carved out beautifully in stone! The climb is steep but it's really quick so U don't really feel like it took a toll!

The place is magnificent, though when we visited at early morning there was basically nobody there. The climb to the summit is not so difficult compared with other rock fortress in Sri Lanka.

Beautiful ancient kingdom. A good climb, but be aware that parts can get quite slippery especially when raining. Wear good grip soled shoes.

Don't forget to make a stop here as the ruins are beautiful and wonderfuly located. It's not popular at all (guess that's part of the beauty) so you can take beautiful pictures with no other tourists in sight (for miles). Go there, but don't spread the word (too much)!
