Truly lovely experience.

Such a fab afternoon in the care of Chris, Tim and Bev, absolutely loved it. Beautiful setting, lovely company, all offset with an array of lip-smackingly good end-products. Learnt a great deal and thoroughly enjoyed the tastings. Sabrinna was my favourite and has been coiffed with great enjoyment this bank holiday! Thank you to all concerned.

Great English Wine
Oct 2020
Considering the size of this family owned and run vineyard, it produces some of the best English white wines that I have ever tasted. Perhaps I'm biased living in the county myself but the tremendous quality of these wines are in a class of their own and understandably so with the passion, enthusiasm and hard work put into creating these wines. Situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the county, Astley arrange wine tasting experiences that you'll never forget.

Absolute gem
Aug 2020 • Business
The vineyard hosted a work get together, much needed after the challenges of Covid.

An immensely friendly team, who pitched their chat at the right level for our group.

It is a beautiful setting, and the wines were delicious (and I am a self confessed wine snob).

I could not recommend it highly enough.

Absolutely brilliant!

This is really worth a visit, both the shop and a pre-booked vineyard tour. Once the most northerly vineyard in the world they produce a quite excellent range of wines. Great to drink yourself or that ‘different’ Christmas or birthday present.
We learned a terrific amount on the tour such as how to taste wines simply, and what made a good wine: picking the grapes on different days for instance.
Go for it. You won’t be disappointed. A local business that deserves to flourish.

Pretty Vineyard, Great Wine, Charming Owners
Jan 2020
I came here in the summer with a group for a tour of the vineyard. In spite of wet weather we had an enjoyable time. The vineyard is not huge but there is managed woodland to walk through on the way to the vines and care is taken to support the resident wildlife. We saw the vines and also saw where the wine was made.

Of course we tasted the wine and bought some. I brought out the wine I had purchased over the Christmas period and found it to be fabulous. I had tasted it with cheese and we had it with cheese at home but it went equally well with mince pies. It was so good that I went back for more one cold January Sunday.

The shop is open at weekends in winter but you have to ring a bell to summon someone to help you. Be patient it takes a few minutes for someone to get there. Perhaps if you are certain you want more wine it might be a good idea to let them know in advance.

The most important thing is the wine in the bottle but I do like the way the bottles are presented. The labels are stylish and the bottles look good if you are going to give them away as gifts.

On the way home we called in at Broomfields the farm shop where the wine I had just purchased was on sale for a pound or so more. If you are wanting quite a few bottles it might be an idea to get them straight from the vineyard.

Astley vineyard is worth a visit but if you cannot easily make it to Astley if you see the wine in a shop buy some I would be surprised if you would be disappointed. The wine is a little bit more expensive than some wines you see and that is because it is not made in vast quantities. It is special wine and I think of it as a treat.

Wines for Christmas
Dec 2019 • Friends
I attended an evening at Astley Vineyard with my daughter & a friend. We were there to try some Astley wines, plus a couple of guest wines.
The venue was beautiful and created a lovely atmosphere for the event.
There were about 12 guests in total, and we were accompanied by 4 members of the Haywood family. It was perfectly sized & everyone was relaxed & friendly.
Chris was very welcoming & gave a great introduction to the evening.
We started off with 2 sparking wines, vintage kerner from Astley & a rose Amore Brut from Plantation Vineyard which was also local. These were accompanied by some nibbles which paired beautifully.
After a brief discussion of these we moved onto 2 dessert wines, Astley Last Harvest & Royal Tokaji from Hungary.
These were paired with florentine’s & Christmas pudding, both lovely, however, the Tokaji was my personal favourite.
We all had a great & informative evening, & I would highly recommend a visit to a similar event.

Afternoon out with British wine.
Aug 2019
Lovely afternoon out with tour of the vineyard and sampling of their lastest blend.
This is a family run business and are very keen on getting their best from English vines, and in our opinion achieving it, from the picking, blending and now the bottling.
This is followed by a return to the main building for views over the valley and sampling of the various wines with a variety of snacks to compare them with. Tim and Chris on hand to inform and help at all time.

Great BRITISH wine
Aug 2019
Had a Tour & Wine Tasting Voucher as a Xmas Present.
Fabulous day to visit this family run business who are dedicated and enthusiastic to produce some fabulous wine.
Tour of the woodland, it's upkeep and it's inhabitants.
The maintenance of the vineyard and grape harvest is all done by hand. The only machinery is the mower to cut the grass between the rows.
A real eye opener as Britain is not well known for wines.
This vineyard is certainly well worth the visit, a real education.
The wine tasting is a bonus.
