Not the standard I expect from a horticultural college
Aug 2019
This garden needs a lot of work and maintenance to bring it up to a decent standard. Likewise the greenhouses and plants inside them. Very old greenhouses and in need of improvement.
Tes rooms need better variety of offering.

Beautiful Gardens
Aug 2019
We decided to call here after seeing the signs. We had a look around, the tropical plants and pond were very interesting and the gardens were beautiful despite the heavy rain. We called in the cafe for a nice hot drink. The food looked very nice and the sandwiches were made to order. Would I call here again, yes I would the gardens and tea room were a very pleasant surprise

Dead plants, expensive prices and weeds everywhere. AVOID!
Aug 2019
I needed an outdoor plant as a gift for a friend and decided to visit Plantworld and support the students. I wish I hadn't bothered. It was a good 30 minute drive from where I live so I was hoping for a good experience. On arrival we were met by plants labelled with misused apostrophes (canna's, dahlia's) and incorrectly spelled succulants (sic) which should have given us a clue about how poor the rest of the place was.

It was not well-tended: we were surprised by how many of the plants were dead - probably about 50% in some areas. There were weeds all over the place. The prices were probably double of other plant centres/nurseries. After seeing this, there was no way we were trying the cafe so scarpered after 10 minutes, never to return (or recommend!)

disabled - accessible?
Jul 2019 • Couples
On a recommendation from a friend we made a visit to Myerscough as he said the grounds were wheelchair friendly. Some plants did not seem to be well looked after in the Plant Centre but we bought some nice plants. We went to the cafe but we wanted more than sandwiches so went to Reception who sent us on to the main cafeteria. All was good until my wife needed the disabled toilet. It was locked with no body inside. I managed to unlock the door and it turned out to be spotlessly clean (not surprising if the cleaner had locked it). We had a good and relatively cheap meal. As the ground was hard we spent an interesting 1 1/2 hours looking at the flat garden & plants. Some have notices saying what they are which is useful. A good and interesting trip out on a sunny day.

It was absolutely amazing 😉 I really enjoyed it. I already know what I want to be when I am older and that is a planetologist because this place inspired me. If you are interested in plants and biology 🧬 I say you go their because you will really enjoyed it

Lovely plant centre

Since my last visit they now have a shop in the entrance for icecream, cakes and snacks. We bought our seeds in this area. I am not sure they sold any of these items before. A great place to browse and purchase your plants.

Wow

This forms part of the college, all free by the way which always helps. Indoor plant centre with tropical house leading out to the outstanding gardens, extremely well laid out in functional planting groups, we liked the hedging area showing different types all together.

Late October visit
Oct 2018 • Solo
I visited here after a stressful week and had the most amazing time enjoying the beauty of plants. The mini temperate and tropical greenhouses transported me to another world of orchids carnivorous plants, mangos, pomegranates, passion fruit, abutilon.....the staff are incredibly helpful knowledgeable and enthusiastic and the cakes and coffee in the tea room were a “naughty but nice” treat. Unusual plants for sale as well! Best of all being on the site of a land based college Plantworld is helping secure our next generation of horticulturalists and arboriculturists. On that note best avoid termtime drop off and pick up times and arrive after the rush around 10am. Keep up the good work 😀

Winter hours
Oct 2018 • Couples
Always enjoy our vist, food is great value and staff lovely. But today found out they are changing the hours at the end of the month, closing at 2 pm. Because it winter! . Well all i can say you are going to lose a lot of customers, .you really need to rethink about close earlier.

Thankyou for your feedback. We have considered our customers response regarding winter opening times and have made the decision NOT to close at 2pm reverting back to 4pm closure.
