The villa consisted of two places, a garden and a royal house. Combined entrance fee was THB200 for each adult. The villa was built by King Rama VIII and IX's mother. And it was said that she built the place to encourage locals to change their lives, from growing opium to diverse cash crops, e.g., flowers, coffee and fruits. Located... More

The Royal Villa has a good English audio guide. It's a very nice place to see how the late King's mother lived. There are some beautiful displays in some rooms and the balcony offers a great view of the village and hills. Also there is a beautiful flower garden nearby.

We saw all of the attractions in Mae Fa Luang and this was one of the highlights. Even though I didn't know much about Thai royalty, it was still very cool to get such an inside look at the Princess Mother's personal life. The handsets were very convenient, especially for an English speaker, and gave much more meaning to the... More

The strange thing about the grounds is it is planted with so many flowers typical of Switzerland. I thought it a shame , even though the are beautiful....I love the Asian exoctic flowers and plants found throughout Thailand. There were orchids there too . Lots of them but so many geraniums!!

Entrance fee was B90 however you can buy a combination ticket if you are also visiting Mae Fah Luang Garden. The Royal Villa was built for the Princess Mother. Whilst the complex is open from 08.30 til about 5pm there was a sign saying it would close for cleaning between 11.40 and 12.30. I am not sure if this is... More

Lots of Asian tourist, mostly Thai since it remains a royal place. The garden is really nice and worth having a tour. The villa can be visited for 30-45 minutes which is enough Cost is 90 b / pers for the garden + 90 for the villa. The view on Myanmar mountains is quite outstanding.

Most of the visitors buy entrance-tickets for both very interesting places to visit in the same compound: the "Royal Villa" and the "Mae Fah Luang Gardens". People onder than 60 can get tickets for half-price by showing their passport. The Royal Villa was build in 1988 and comprises 3 different buildings. To visit the Royal Villa you have to follow...
