Charter boat from Talu Trips,
Defective safetygear, defective boats that need assistance taking time out of your trip.
Crew that dump ropes from their floats overboard instead of disposing of them correctly.
Urinals that drain directly onto the ground.
Island snorkeling spots full of dead corals.
Absolutely not worth your time and money.

A wonderful day trip from Hua Hin to Koh Talu. Booked through Western Tours at Damernkasem Road, Hua Hin at 2300 Baht. We were met at our hotel by Mr. Odd their representative and transported in a mini van in excellent condition to Bangsaphan from where we took a speed boat to Koh Talu. Immensely enjoyed the snorkelling there and saw some of the most beautiful corals have ever seen. A nice lunch is provided on the island once we are done with snorkelling and Mr. Odd was attentive to our needs without being too obtrusive. All in all a day well spent.

Did this snorkelling trip through oriental escapes a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic day!
Bang saphan noi is around 2 hours 45 mins drive south of hua hin so its quite a long day but its quite a scenic journey and definitely worth the trek once you get there.
The journey across to the island by speed boat is great fun with plenty of photo opportunities along the way and the snorkelling is much better than we expected...ok, so maybe its not the red sea or great barrier reef but the water is clear and.we saw a variety of colourful fish and coral. All equipment is provided and we stopped at two different snorkelling sites.
After tiring ourselves out in the water, we went onto the island itself for a buffet lunch served in the restaurant...this was pretty decent with plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians alike.
We were then given a couple of hours to explore the beautiful island ourselves which was the highlight of the day for us! We found a pretty little 'lookout' cove with small shingle beach and my partner decided to swim around to pearl bat whilst i trekked through the forest.
Pearl bay was deserted and so peaceful with soft golden sand lined with coconut trees.
We then headed back to the restaurant area and saw a little shack offering massages and a few temples before walking round to big bay.
Big bay is definitely the best part of the island with white sand and turquoise water...it felt like we were on a tropical island! We.saw canoes and a small catamaran boat but didn't use them as we were content just to relax in the baking sunshine for a bit.
There were quite a few chalets lining big bay and i wished we had booked an overnight stay as we had to leave much too soon.
If your short on time though, the day trip is definitely worth doing if staying in the hua hin/cha am areas...the beach and sea here are in a different league!

Went for an overnight trip on Monday 18th August as part of our honeymoon. Travelled three hours from Sam Roi Yot beach followed by 20 minute speed boat to the island. When getting to scuba place we where told to wait on boat as we had tp check in first. Off we went, greeted with lovely kiwi / lemon honey drinks followed by quick explanation of island. Ironically they have wifi! Arrived at 11am but room was not ready until gone 1pm. By this time the snorkeling people who we left behind had come back so felt a bit gutted on missing out. Finally taken to the room, a small one bedroom bungalow with shower / toilet on outside. Room was clean but small. View to beach was lovely and only 10 meters from our door. Multiple activities available on site from trecking, fishing, kayaking, snorkeling. At 5pm went out with locals for squid fishing. Amazingly lots of fun and got to cook our catch and eat it. Food on island all included, good selection although not good if vegi as most things cooked with fish in some way (oil, shrimp etc). Good quality though. BIG problem is from 9am to 11am and 3pm to 5pm there is no electricity. All Fans / aircon not working so expect to go into the sea to cool off during these times. Watch out for the giant hornets / wasps, not a good place to go if you get worried about them. Nights sleep was poor worrying about mosquito bites although there was a bug net over the bed. Next morning both wife and I woke up feeling ill (maybe due to air con all night). Snorkeling was ok, do not expect red Sea as you can hardly see 2/3 meters in front although 1,000s of tropical fish. Went back at 2:30pm after lunch. Paid over £250 for overnight beach view villa certainly not worth this money thus why only three star review. Would have expected better bedroom / living / bathroom facilities with snorkeling on both days. At most this should be £150 for the both of us especially when a week at our own resort (the beach village in sam roi yot) came to less than £240. Would not go back but could be great for others.

We took a one day trip from Hua Hin to Koh Talu, booked through oriental escape. The bus ride was quite long (3 hours each way).
It was wet season when we were there but the sun did come out while snorkelling and it is was great.
Lunch at the resort was included, it was on the cold side by the time we got to eat. The Island resort is very nice with a good beach and would recommend maybe staying for a couple of nights to make the most of such a stunning area.
If you expect world class snorkelling, this is not the place to go.
Down side is the travel to and from the Island for literally and hour and a half of snorkelling. A long way to go, however there is no where in Hua Hin to snorkel!

We went on a boat and snorkeling trip with Suchart Boat tours. They took us out to Koh Talu island and guided us to coral and good spots to watch the colourful fish. They provided lunch and fruit and drinks and basic snorkeling equipment (only goggle and snorkel) for Bhat400 per person. If you come from Huahin with a tour the whole package will be in the area of Bhat1200 per person. The boat depart at 9am. Weekdays are much more quiet than weekends. Suchart staff do not really speak English but are very friendly.
We loved it so much that we went twice in one week.

Koh Talu is a bit strange with other island because erosion of the water holes through to the other side. This place we can snorkeling and see a lot of corals with Clown fish and rock fish. 15 minutes from the beach and we can swim without fear!

I went one a half day trip to the island. We did snorkelling at 3 different places and it was truly amazing! Different kind of fishes and above all, the coral. It has lost most of its color unfortunately but all its different shapes.....totally worth it! I had done snorkelling at Angthong parc and Ko Tao, and I preferred Koh Talu! Breathtaking!

Nice place. When we went it was a lots of fish swimming around us. From what I heard if you visit at the right time you might see some amazing sea creature too. Recommend to visit on the nice calm day.

We are thinking of staying at SEAnery Beach Resort in Bang Saphan for a few days, and are wondering how we can go to Koh Talu for snorkeling every day

Hi Selina, thanks so much for putting together such an informative and helpful review, just wanted to check did you return back to Hua Hin the same day itself, or is it worth it to spend a day on Koh Talu Island?
Written 7 September 2017
When I visited we did the visit in a day and so returned to hua hin. That's a perfectly good option, but really we wish we had stayed over night as it is such a beautiful place and well looked after! Both options are good!

Can people who do not know swimming do the snorkeling trip?
Also can children(10 yrs child) also do the snorkeling activity?
Is it safe for non swimmers ?
Did you do the booking before you visited Hua Hin or booked it after reaching Hua Hin?
