Chateau d'Oiron is a beautiful setting in its own right, housing a contemporary art collection from the 1980s and 1990s. The beautiful spaces sometimes have found their perfect matches with the art works: some of big names: Abramovich, Weiner, Kawara, Delvoye... The works are beautifully...More

You wouldn't expect a 16th century chateau to be a great setting for modern art, but here the combination is a great success. One approaches the entrance by walking through a small park full of spectacular cedar trees, among others. The castle itself is interesting,...More

What a magnificent château! Having had such an interesting past (and I am sure that the walls could speak volumes of some of the shenanigans that went on within them, if they could talk) it is most assuredly a massive shame that this fantastic building...More

Really interesting visit. Some fascinating contemporary exhibits displayed in a magnificent setting. No original furniture, but plenty of opulent rooms with original wall and ceiling features. Kids enjoyed it to (a great relief). Merci beaucoup.

Beautiful Chateau standing in large grounds. Can't understand why it isn't crowded. If you only have a passing interest in history or architecture it's well worth a visit. Don't forget to picnic in the lovely grounds.
