Dog Walking

Spent an afternoon with my family and our dog walking around this old hill fort. It has some stunning views of the rolling countryside over Andover and Stockbridge!

I live a short distance and regularly visit this place. It is brilliant for walking and dog friendly but be mindful of the wild ponies wandering around. Very impressive fort although not much to see in terms of an actual attraction, there are information boards explaining things but apart from the wonderful views and the peace there is not a... We went here for a picnic with friends and children. Unless you want a long walk up, don't be fooled by parking in the bottom car park - drive up the road to the larger second one. Good to have toilets on site, if very basic. Overall, a lovely place for a walk with children, but you need to keep... More

The site itself is located off the road, along a track, with two free car parks - one at the bottom of the hill and one much nearer the top. Beware if you use the post-code that your sat-nav may not be totally accurate! The site itself sits atop a reasonable sized hill (unsurprisingly), with lovely (albeit slightly interrupted) views... Huge earth walls, how amazing they must have looked at the time it was lived in. A great walk, interesting history, free, inspiring views. If you like any of this sort of stuff, then go here. We went to the museum in Andover and watched the video on youtube first, it worked really well and gave us a better understanding... More

A wonderful place, and site of an Iron Age hill fort. Great views of surrounding countryside. If you're interested in topic, the museum in nearby Andover has a collection related to the site. There are two car parks: one just off the main road, but you can save five minutes walk by going to the second one, further up the... More

This is a special place. You can feel it as you walk up the windy, exposed hill from the car park. As you enter the ring itself you can just begin to imagine how hard life must have been Yes I some ways there's not much here but it is a beautiful, lonely place

Was pleasantly surprised with this hidden hill fort that's practically on our door step. A great place to walk for any able age or with an all terrain push chair. Great dog walking spot. Beautiful scenery with lots of hills. There are wild horses and hidden rope swings. We will definitely return!

100% worth viewing if you haven't already been here! Car park off main road, steep walk up to the "trig point" and does a BIG loop around the hill fort.
