- Jane SGloucester, United Kingdom20 contributionsPerfect location, great weather but overpricedThe weather was perfect as was the location and we were willing to pay the high rates for the bank holiday weekend which meant a minimum payment of three nights at an inflated rate. If you stay here, accept a high charge with no hookup, no showers and basically no amenities you would expect in 21st century. However, you may get beautiful sunrises and sunsets, access to surf if that floats your boat and clean modern toilets, although no hand gel despite reminders. It’s great for the occasional break but way too expensive for a regular visit.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 June 2023
- John P2 contributionsSurprise chance to spend a sunny day in Oct at the beach. Great unintended sunset.Lovely place to spend a day, nice clean and safe beach, with some rock areas for children to adventure in, Clean toilets. Only complaint that service in the Cafe is very slow, but I think they have lost their students to University by now. As to Mr Angry, he went back down at 7pm to find my daughters bag, while we drove back. The staff are very friendly.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 9 October 2023

Beautiful beach. Great views. Nice café although not enough inside seating. Lots of outside seating if weather is OK.
Car park very expensive which if there all day might be affordable. If you only want an hour or so to use the café or short walk on the beach it still costs the full day rate. Not good and stops locals using these facilities more often.
Toilets are impeccable.
Suggestion 1 - hoist a green flag when the café is open that can be seen from further down the beach and red when closed.
Suggestion 2 - In summer put temporary toilets about 300 yards down the beach to help older people and perhaps families having to need it quickly.

After a long journey down and a narrow road we did not want to experience again that day, we opted to stay the night in our motorhome. Arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and charged us £50 in September for an overnight stay. We balked, but as above, we stupidly paid! We were directed to the upper car park where there was a water supply and un-level parking. The toilets were across a muddy piece of grass. No hot water whatsoever but cold showers on the steeply accessed beach. We opted for a ferry across to Brittany and now staying at beautiful beach-side aires for €14 euros a night with electricity, water and toilets. A No Brainer.

Great location but ridiculous price to stop in a car park.
Charged £40 for the night!
Unfortunately they have a captive market as by the time you have negotiated the approach road, many would not turn round and leave.
Please consider the price before you go there.

Extortionate car park charges. Wanted to take the puppy for a walk for an hour or so but with £10 parking charges and no ability to pay for an hour or two, we turned round and went to Saunton instead.

Absolute rip-off car park and most miserable staff. No ability to pay for half a day. The Tuckers have a real cash-cow here.

I wanted to surf for an hour or two in the morning and was charged £12 for the privilege!
There is no hourly rate like Saunton, it's pay the full price for a day or nothing.
Go somewhere else.

I loved the sand it was so soft and the sea was calm. No lifeguard. Cafe food was brilliant but expensive .

We arrived at gone 1pm to be met by a sign saying the car park was £12 I politely enquired if that was still the price given the time and if there was an afternoon rate to be told, No!
Pretty poor! Very overpriced. Have been out and about all week and not paid anything like this anywhere else and although the beach was nice, even in pretty grim weather, it’s not worth that price. Staff need to cheer up too, if I was taking £12 per car I know fine well I would be happy.

No. Just go earlier and stay later! Get your monies worth! There just isn't anywhere else unless you want a long walk.

The previous answer is wrong. There is an annual ticket available and you can also buy a weekly ticket if you are on holiday in this area and wish to go several times.

Hi Dave
Yes the beach is dog friendly and all of the pubs are too.. I always stay at Putsborough Manors cottages as they are the best for dogs as there is a clear run through the field to the beach and the gardens are dog secure.. Rock in Georgeham is doing the best food followed closely by the Kings.. I go here two or three times a year...
