Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited in the evening and it was very quiet with just a few other visitors but this is a very popular tourist destination and gets very busy with coach trips. It is high up in the mountains and takes a good 20 min drive from Eidfjord along winding roads and tunnels. There is a large carpark and the area is laid out well with lots of walkways and viewing platforms. If you have mobility or walking difficulties I would recommend you stay at the top and enjoy the spectacular views and scenery as the various walks down to the old bridge are uneven and slippery and there are alot of steps to the new bridge. The area is absolutely stunning with the waterfalls cascading into the valley below but we were there in Spring and there should have been alot more water cascading down which we found a little disappointing. We were told the water flow is controlled, and it showed! That said, it is still an incredible sight and the area is spectacular.

We had been scheduled to visit here (end of April) on an excursion from our cruise ship docked in Eidfjord. We had been notified that the visit could not be exactly as arranged due to the amount of snow at the viewing platform, which was closed for safety reasons. On arrival at the car/coach park, even that was closed but we parked at the side of the road, and the guide decided after checking with her HQ to take those who wanted to go on foot, near enough to hear but not see the waterfall due to the weather. She did take some intrepid travellers part of the way into the closed off area at their own risk. Hey, not me! (I walk with a stick anyway). But the scenery was still pretty spectacular.

Truly spectacular. After our first visit we decided to go back once again a few days later. And it was well worth it, we were lucky with the weather too. If it rains, it's worth to wait 20-30 minutes to clear up.

We visited Vøringsfossen in mid June 2023, maybe the best time to visit?
Vøringsfossen is the most amazing and spectacular waterfall in Norway. It is simply extraordinary. Norway has countless waterfalls of various sizes, but this one is the absolute ruler of waterfalls, it has everything. We parked at the parking lot on the upper part of the site and there were public toilets available. From the parking lot to the waterfall itself it was only about 30-50 meters and if you didn't have a fear of heights before, you might get it by visiting Vøringsfossen. I was a bit scared, but I took some deep breaths and enjoyed the stunning view of the waterfall and Måbødalen. The height, the water pressure and the loud sound made the experience an extreme one that everyone should have on their bucket list. After visiting this waterfall, most other natural phenomena paled in comparison, except for some rapids like the river (Rauma) at Kyllingbrua in Verma and Gudbrandsjuvet, the rapids in Volva, Lærdalselvi and/or Valldøla. In a way, «we ate the dessert before the dinner» and we became saturated with sights of waterfalls. The drive down from the waterfall to Eidfjord, Hardangerbrua and Ulvik was beautiful and steep. We are a couple in our 50s.

We took a bus tour over to Voss. Up the Voss Gondol for lunch then took the train to Geilo where we boarded a bus back to Eidfjord. Stopping at Voringfossen was a highlight in a fabulous day.

We made a brief stop here during a day tour of the area. the waterfalls are simply amazing! The falls are easily viewed from multiple vantage points via easily walkable platforms. If in the area, do not miss this awesome place!

Norway has quite a few waterfalls, but this one is a must see. The views are impressive, there are multiple water falls and a gorgeous valley (canyon). I do not think pictures truly capture the beauty of this place. There are bridges crossing the valley (at quite an impressive height), parking and entrance are free of costs.

This place is one of the top sights of our Norway trip! Wow! What a waterfall! The plattforms are built right at the edge and you get a plunging view down the ridge.

If you love waterfalls then you must visit. The photos you may have seen of Voringsfossen may be stunning but in person, they are breathtaking even on a rainy day! Absolutely worth a visit!
