A attractive house that has bee derelict for years

If passing then worth a visit for historical interest but not worth going out of your way to see. Sandwiched amongst housing estates but near a main road.

We have been invited to give our opinions ...I for one think we should leave it as it is . Apparently there is plans to open a cafeteria on the grounds , I've... More

Abandoned castle opposite council estate - teenagers starting fires and riding off-road motorcycles in the surrounding area. We spent 5 minutes and went which is a great, great shame. The castle is really well preserved - far better than some of the ruins available on English heritage and it could be an amazing place to visit if a bit of... More

when i was young it was a derelict building and we used to play there but obviously someone got the idea we can make money from it. I personally wouldn't pay for it but i suppose it is a bit of history and if you like that sort of thing it may well be worth a visit

Great bit of local history which is superbly maintained, would love to see inside it one day as I have only ever been around the outside.

You don't need to spend a lot of time here as there not a lot to see. It is obviously very important to the local people as it dates back a long long time, but I didn't find it that interesting just had a walk around and that was it.

We were passing nearby and checked to see if there were any English Heritage sites we could pop in to with our membership card. We arrived here to find a deserted, boarded up castle. Spent two minutes wandering round the limited grounds before continuing our journey. Even if you happen to be passing by, just keep driving!

Hi I live a 2 minute walk away from the castle. Lovely building but for visitors there is nothing to do In the area. So please don't make a journey from afar to visit. It's a good place to make sure you see if travelling through Sunderland. If you visit you'll see a gorgeous castle with the local kids hanging... More
