Lots of new seating and picnic tables all along the refurbished promenade. Plenty of cafes to visit for coffee or a bite to eat.

Been coming to these beaches for years and over the past few years have never looked better. Lots of renovations to the promenade, plenty of seats to watch the world go by. Beautiful clean sand and rock pools, lighthouses, cafes, restaurants, play parks toilets etc. Well worth a visit

Roker beach has been vastly improved since our last visit. There is still lots of parking near the beach, but the promenade has been updated and now provides a pleasant walkway linking Roker Beach to the main promenade. The addition of cafes and a new toilet block is a very welcome advantage. The wax model in full kit propped up... More

There is nothing finer than an early morning stroll along this fabulous coastline and then enjoying a cuppa and a snack at... More

I spent many s happy time as a child down the beach at Seaburn. They are still of good quality and a few new restaurants have sprung up . But still no fairground or theatre to attract visitors, so disappointing. If you cross the border into Whitburn and Southshields there is a whole lot more on offer, including a sheltered... More

Who'd have thought there would be such an attractive seafront in Sunderland (no offence intended...!)? Well, there was a lovely play park (including very clever wind screen), great walk along to the lighthouse and a couple of cracking cafes. We had fish and chips at Downeys, very attentive service, comfortable layout and really good food - light crispy batter, just... More
