FANTASTIC

Unfortunately the Cardboard Box Playcafe is now closed.

It was a fantastic setting for parents and carers of small children.

Space for the child to play and learn. Constant themes for children to experience. Reading corners.

Superb coffee and cakes!!

Unfortunately as it was a social enterprise it was no longer financially viable to continue.

Well done Nicky......it was amazing from start to finish!

Lots of things to do and lots of space to do it in
Dec 2015 • Family
The Cardboard Box cafe moved to the Old Arcade in Stirling and that's where we have visited for the last couple of years.

We've taken our young son here for a couple of years and he loves it. There is lots of space to run around (and run off some energy) and many things to play with (a shop/restaurant, dress up stage and construction site come to mind). The open plan layout means we can keep an eye on him whilst having a juice or coffee. The staff are always friendly and often have activities to do with the kids.

Had a coffee with my wife whilst my four year old played.

Coffee was good and it was an open space where you could see the kids playing.

Toy selection was good but not a lot of each toy, so sharing was a bit of an issue when 3-5 kids decided the train set was appealing and only 3 carriages and one engine.

Not much of a selection of nibbles were offered.

A wonderful place for play
Sep 2015 • Family
We absolutely love the Cardboard Box Cafe. It's one of our favourite places to meet friends for a play, coffee or lunch.

It's located at the McDonald's side of The Stirling Arcade on the first floor.

When you arrive you are greeted by friendly staff, a lovely open plan play area and so many toys and activities for children. My toddler loves it, she wanders off to play as soon as we arrive and my five year old loves it too.

They have a play building yard with soft bricks, cones, spades. There is a shop set up with a till, food, a trolley and shopping baskets, a Diner, train set on a table and a stage.

Around the other side there is a lovely baby area with age appropriate toys as well as a reading corner equip with comfy seats and books to read.

Tea and (proper) coffee are available as well as lunch and a range of snacks. The rice crispie cake is very tasty and a generous portion.

I can't rate this place highly enough, it's so much fun and a safe place for little ones to play with things you don't have room for at home.

Excellent Facility for Families with young children in Stirling
May 2015 • Family
Located on the first floor of the Stirling Arcade, the Cardboard Box is a play cafe offering a range of play areas and resources for pre school children as well as an area especially for babies and younger toddlers with soft mats and bouncy chairs. Rather than the usual soft play type set up, the Cardboard Box focuses on imaginative and role play with cafe, construction and shop 'corners' as well as dressing up, craft and sensory resources. It's a bright, spacious area with lots of activities to keep young children amused while parents can sit and have a cup of tea (or join in!)

A small range of food is available (soup, toasties, kids lunches) as well as the all important coffee and cake. Although the choice is limited the food is all freshly prepared on site. The coffee is particularly good!

It is a social enterprise and the general vibe is very relaxed and friendly and very much geared towards families with young children. Definitely worth a visit if you are in town.

Note: it can be easy to miss. The cafe is located on the first floor of the Stirling Arcade at the Murray Place end. Entrance is gained via a buzzer not he right hand side and there is a lift taking you to the first floor.

Really impressed with the Cardboard Box, cannot believe we have never been before.

Clean, Spacious and full of excellent imaginative play toys for the little folks means I could enjoy my delicious coffee in peace.
With a lovely area for babies, sensory, books it's a delight to have this in town. Beats Costa hands down.

Massive well done. Looking forward to our next visit!

Disappointing

I really had high hopes but sadly they were not met. Awkward entrance if you have a buggy. Horrible smelly lift to the first floor. Poor (non existent) changing facilities for little ones in nappies. Great concept just a poor location choice.

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed by your visit. We appreciate all customer feedback and as a social enterprise, our aim is to provide a benefit to the community. I suspect your difficulty with a buggy was caused by the stairgate which we have in place for the safety of children once they are in the cafe. We are aware, that several types of buggy do not fit through this particular gate, and are looking at alternative types of safety gates. In the meantime, staff are happy to assist customers to bring buggies into the cafe if they wish. The lift is a communal area of the arcade, and I will mention your concerns regarding the smell to the management and ask if there is anything which can be done. With regards to baby changing, there is a disabled toilet with plenty of room for changing, along with a changing mat, and a bin and nappy bags are provded. I believe the toilet itself was out of order on the day of our visit, however the room was still available for changing purposes, as depicted by the sign on the door. We do not currently have a changing table, although we have now received funding to purchase one, which we will be done in the very near future. We are a not-for-profit organisation, and our volunteers do the best they can with the limited funds available. It is early days, and as you say, the concept is great, and we will continue to strive to deliver a valuable service to the local community.

Wee gem for families
First visit today, wish I had discovered before!

A lovely place to spend some time with your wee one, Great value snacks, lunches etc, and great coffee.

Lots to do, great discovery areas and cosy book corner.

Was not too busy like some 'play areas'- A different concept that works, and not that manic chaos that exists in some places...

Five minutes walk from Stirling
train station, so very easy to get to.
Will definitely be back, and recommend to all!
