Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a nice, busy and friendly Town back in the 60s & 70s, but now thanks to Council incompetence it is absolutely dying of shame. The people are still friendly, but the Town Centre is full of parking wardens ready to swoop to stick a penalty on your windscreen and if you like pie shops, £1 shops and cafes this is the place to come to. If there was provision for minus ratings, I would give it minus 5

Almost all the main decent brand shops have left St Helens town centre...all that's left are phone shops, pound shops, cheap greasy bakeries, cheap clothing shops...well you get the picture. For £5 return you can hop on the train be in Liverpool in 20 minutes. St Helens offers nothing and no incentive. The council don't care and this is a sorry place to shop.

First thing I'm gonna say is on a whole St Helens is a nice town, nice friendly people, so don't think I'm anti St Helens I'm proud to be from the town. Now the bad, the town centre is abysmal. This is one of three shopping arcades built circa 1980. It did the job in the 80s but we ain't in the 80s things move on.
A perfect storm of bad town planning, having retail parks so close to the town centre, major shops shutting because of the financial crisis and no investment has killed the main shopping highstreet area. St Helens council are an absolute joke. It's a beige hell hole. Needs knocking down and major investment.
More people can drive and have cars so where you gonna go? Liverpool one? Golden square? Trafford centre? Or the beige bin?
Labour know that they can get away with murder in St Helens as the party has a fanatical following here. So we get numpties running the place.
My four year old could plan out a better town centre.

I visited Superdrug in Church Square, St Helens, but I found the staff to be very rude and unpleasant. There was a short woman with dark hair who had a very angry demeanor, scowling, and just basically snarling at me when I asked her a question. The staff behind the tills were unfriendly and overall, the general impression they gave was that they'd rather not be there. The staff were not exactly what you'd call happy, and for a customer service role, I think this is a prerequisite. There were no signs of any customer relations training having been completed, perhaps this should be arranged quickly? A very negative experience, and I won't be giving them my custom again. It's actually quite sad as Church Square Shopping Centre needs all the help and custom it can get at the moment, as does the whole of St Helens town centre, in these difficult times competing against the giant retail parks. St Helens is a lovely, historic place but I'm afraid the treatment I encountered from the staff of Superdrug, only contributed to any negative reputation that the town may have.

I’m sure Church Square Shopping Centre was a nice mall when it was built. Today it looks very dated and in need of some improvements

This is one of the main shopping centres in St Helens, sadly it is struggling from the same issue as the rest of the town centre, all the good shops have closed and we are now left with pound shops!

Really depressing centre, understand why people from St Helens shop in neighbouring towns. No comparison with Warrington.
