We finally stopped on one of our trips past this place, and it is really worth it. As you enter the Waitaki Valley, it explains so much about the geology of the area. Information, fossils, interactive displays, books about the area, and tea or coffee...More

I had no idea as to the extent of ancient geological history in that part of the country, but there it was, all laid out for all to see, with photos and descriptions. Very interesting examples of fossils, rocks and skeletal remains were on display,...More

If you have any interest in geology or fossils this is a great place to stop for a browse. There was an elderly local lady manning the shop when we were there and she was very helpful.

Good collection of local fossils and a great place to stop and get info before you do the fossil trail. Day we went the staff were two locals (volunteers I'm sure) and were very knowledgeable. They loved chatting and answering questions about the area and...More

This is a fun, educational, and friendly stop in an area filled with limestone and fossils. They even have a 'find your fossil' room for kids.

I love geology and this self drive tour is right up my alley. Unfortunately the map we bought from the center ws somewhat lacking in detail so despite out best efforts we missed half the points. Still a fabulous day out though

Very interesting wee place to stop at in the middle of nowhere. Kids can spend time excavating for fossils or looking at rocks and shells through the microscope. Lots of interesting stuff for the parents to look at too. $20 for a family
