We had a week stay in Maria Alm which location is very beautiful and many natural places nearby but for the effective travelling you should rent a car otherwise you need to follow public transport or taxi and train nearby. Good for skiing and mountain climbing. Restaurants are good quality and the restuarants in the hotel also nice and nearby... More

Fabulous scenery and a really typical Austrian village with a famous church spire. Our visit coincided with a festival so everyone was in national costume. Summer facilities included the mountain lifts, hiking, cycling and mountain biking. High ropes and new slide complex installed on the way down from the cable car good for children. Local card was great with free... More

We spent a week based in Maria Alm and we were each provided with the Hochkonig card by our pension free of charge which meant all lifts to the alps were free of charge all over the Hochkonig Region. This enabled us to to extensive hiking around Maria Alm, saalfelden, Hinterthal, Hintermoos, Dienten and Mulbach. The hiking was excellent as... More

Went there in the summers. Beautiful pastures, lovely scenery with light snow on the surrounding mountains. Easy to reach by taxi (E15) or bus (about E2.4 per person) from Saalfelden, which is connected by train from all over. Nice hotels / Pensions all over & also many apartments on long rentals.

Wondeful Alpine village about an hour from Salzburg. So much to do & see in the summer and a fantastic ski area to boot.

Lovely li ttle place - have been to St Anton, Courcheval, Val dIsere etc. but always return to Maria Alm. Great for families (young). Not a party place, but really perfect for us. Not a massive ski area, or fancy in any way, but great ski school and a few great restaurants, all you need for a great week.

The ski area just above the town of Maria Alm is very small, but okay for falilies with smaller children and also for beginners - a big plus here is that it's never really crowded here.... Only a 5 minutes drive (there's loads of free skibusses) from Maria Alm is Aberg located, and from here you are connected with 4... More

Maria Alm is a lively small village which services some of the Hochkonig ski area. Plenty of good restaurants, nice hotels and guest houses, nice skiing and friendly lovely people. The skiing is a little limited for expert skiers but we had a great time and skied the whole area. The restaurants up the mountain are fabulous as well.

The snow was light, but they made their own.;-) No one can control the weather yet. The people were all friendly and helpful on & off the mountain. I will be back when the place is covered in snow! Intersport did a great job of teaching me 4 year old to ski.
