Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Donated items to this small museum. Not spectacular but very real feel to it. Located in a school donated to the town after WW1 by Victorians. School hall is unique for France. We did taxi from Corbie station to SJMC, to FA museum and then back to Corbie for train back to Lille. Taxi’s booked by SJMC excellent staff worked fantastically well.

Every time I see the words "Do Not Forget Australia" on-line or in a book it is an emotional experience - visiting the actual place was no easier. The compact display, currently in the school's hall, is well worth the time to visit and absorb some of the information. This school was built to plans supplied from Victoria, Australia and as such is the only school in France with an assembly hall.

This is a beautiful little museum that as most of you will know was donated by the school, children of Victoria to the children of Villers-Bretonneux at the end of WW1.
Today when we visited we went into the school and the first thing that we heard were the giggles and laughter of young children kicking soccer balls around the school playground beneath the sign reminding students and people within the village to never forget Australia.
Is an inspirational place to visit made more so by the presence of children and beautiful staff still using the school.

The museum is a low tech experience compared to SJMC which was refreshing. The link to the school is incredible and our children were each given a picture drawn by a student reflecting their impressions of Australia. Sadly these were about the current bushfires, indicative of the deep and immediate knowledge the children have of Australia. Our family was very moved by the whole experience and would recommend this as a memorable addition to a trip to the SJMC. The walk between the two museums took about 40 minutes, and was also worthwhile as it gave more perspective on the landscape and conditions during the war. We visited in midwinter and both museums were almost empty, adding to the somber and reflective mood. Highly recommend.

The village of Villers Bretonneux is special place for Australians interested in WWI. The school and its museum are worth visiting. The little museum has many personal items and some historical photos which show the special place Australians have to the villagers. We visited on a Sunday and although the school yard was locked you can look down into the play area from the museum. Highly recommended.

We visited this museum and the first thing that strikes you is a sign in the school playground saying 'do not forget Australia' as you walk towards the museum. To see that in a french school along with Aussie flags in the windows really chokes you up with emotion. The museum is very good and once again shows how we are thought of in this little french town. Worth making the time to visit if you can.

The museum was very informative and educational and gave insight into WW1 Battles in the area and the feelings of the locals towards Australia. It is a very modern and well lit museum. There are numerous personal items and mementos from the battles.
Interestingly, there were a few French people looking around also.
If this type of history interests you, it is well worth the effort to visit.

A thoughtful museum which articulates many of the timeless bonds between France 🇫🇷 & 🇦🇺 Australia forged on the Western front during world war 1. Australia helped save Villers Bretonneaux and its citizens during this conflict and there are many artifacts photographs and historical film footage about the war. The state of Victoria in Australia also has donated much to the Primary school where the museum is housed.
It is a place which depicts a snapshot in time, but with a human touch. I loved this museum and I’m sure you will too
