This is a small museum that is interesting but fairly limited in the explanations of the history, technique and social life of the production of toile de Jouy. Also, I speak fluent French, but for those who do not, it is a shame that more explanations are not given in English. The museum shop has many overpriced items.

We spend a more time getting there by train and getting back to Paris then visiting the museum. Toile is one of my wife's favorite design concepts, we have various fabric and products through out out house. But, the museum is small with very limited displays and small town curation. The story is incomplete and not well documented in the... More

This is a small museum for people with interest in toile de Jouy. This is a unique garment designed and manufacturer in Jouy from mid 18 century. It is very chic. My recommendation: spend time visiting the park across the street. It is lovely in summer and you should enjoy a picnic near the small lake.

For one thing you have to wait until 11 AM for the doors to open. The whole visit does not merit more than 1/2 hour. It lacks animations, only one video explains the different phases of the colour hand-printing of the toile de Jouy. It's provincial and overstated.

This is a specialist museum of 'Toile de Jouy' fabrics. The collection is comprehensive and very well displayed but not too big to see comfortably. There is a shop with Toile related goods and a small cafe as well as free parking. It is very near to Versailles and not far from Paris so it makes a good excursion. I... More
