Very interesting.

If you like walks or would like to travel on ship then look no further.
there are regular services available during the warmer season and less frequent autumn/winter. Brilliant experience travelling through the “Schiffshebewerk” from the canal to the river and back. Also can be combined with a comfortable trip along the canal and/or river.

Nice experience close to the action!

There is a knowledgeable guy in uniform there who will explain the history. 1998 was a special year because they had the 1200 Jahre Minden Stadtjubilaum. Free to visit and an ideal place to take a group. You can even grind your own corn.

Family visit to Minden Schiffsmuhle
Apr 2016 • Family
Fascinating place to visit if you're in Minden. It's a working watermill on a barge which is tethered to the banks of the river Weser. Apparently there used to be many similar but this is the last surviving one. There was a friendly and helpful welcome and we even managed to buy a bag of rye flour in a linen bag with logo. It's great for children as they can clearly see what's happening in the mill with the gear wheels and millstone. Watch out for clouds of flour though! Nice way to spend half an hour as you walk on the banks of the river or wander around the town.

A very interesting visit to a working mill
Sep 2014 • Couples
This was such an interesting visit. The old water wheel still turns, but now is aided by an electric motor. We watched the flour being ground and were told that whilst the quantities were not enough commercially, the local house wives were able to buy. It was fascinating to watch the wooden wheels and cogs turning, but do not spend too long, as the air is full of dust.

Historic Flour Mill

This is a wonderful place to visit, it is a working flour mill that still makes flour that you can buy. Afterwards I recommend a beer in the Biergarten next door.
