Terrific Tours and Tantalising Tasters:

As one of the more expensive tours from one of the best known producers in Jerez we were expecting an interesting tour and tastings - but were completely disappointed here. Our grumpy 'guide' rushed us through the site...with most of the time taken up with a boring advertising film and cheesy train journey round the site. Once in the sherry... More

I studied Sherry production at college -- after this trip I know less than I did 40 years ago. Along winded advertising film followed by a "train " journey to see the outside of some buildings, a stroll through some musty storage sheds and 2 minuscule samples of sherry did not offer either good value or a worthwhile experience. Prospective... More

Practically nothing for a sherry-lover or for someone who wants to know about sherry-production, but all about making money from people on their tours. The train-thing, the stories about the mouse and the signatures (leaving just enough time for you to "discover" one or two for yourself), the over-priced tapas-things, the vast, unavoidable shop as you go out... If I... More

Fabulous site, with great history and wonderful sherry. The guide was a little clinical in delivery and the tour went at such a gallop that it was almost impossible to take photos. A real annoying thing was the subtitles on the DVD that starts the tour. (The DVD is mainly in English) The sub titles were at the bottom of... More

I enjoyed the sherry tasting and the shop (it was discounted!). I wasn't that keen on the rest of it, however. The tour starts with a 20 minute promotional video which is shown in a hot room. Some of the video was interesting but, when you pay the best part of 20 Euros for a tour, you kind of hope... More

Family of 6 took VIP tasting tour. Well worth the extra cost. We had a private guide to all areas of the facility.Tasting tables with food /wine pairings. Fun and informative and deliscious!

On a two day visit to Jerez de la Frontera, one of the vital visits to make is a tour around the Gonzalez-Byass sherry Bodega, probably better known for its Tio Pepé brand. It is situated adjacent to the Cathedral and the Alcazar in the old town. The company offers tours in four different languages (English, Spanish, French & German)... More

We asked at the hotel which Bodegas was kid friendly and they recommended Tio Pepe (Gonzales Byass). Our kids (aged 7 and 9) enjoyed as the tour includes a train ride around the estate (about 20 mins) and had a good video giving the history of the group and explaining the manufacturing process. The tour ends with a tasting of... More
